Maria at the Meridian House could not have made our lives easier throughout the wedding planning process. We probably asked her a hundred questions via email (because we were not local), but she was patient, friendly, informative, and prompt. The Meridian House is gorgeous inside and out, so if it fits your aesthetic, hurry and reserve your date because it fills up quickly. We had our 70-person ceremony and cocktail hour in the gorgeous Linden Grove garden, which was a bit hot despite the canopy of the trees because it was mid-July, so something to consider. Unlike traditional/hotel reception spaces, the indoor space at the Meridian House is divided into five large rooms/halls, which is great if you intend to separate various events in different spaces. We had dinner and toasts in the Living Room, which was perfect because it is spacious and there is a grand piano on which our DJ lightly played background music; we danced in the Loggia, which is a beautiful circular space accessible from all rooms, and we had the bar, cake, and photobooth in the picturesque library. The guests seemed to have fun going from room to room and seeing what the next space held, though some of the older guests just stayed seated in the Living Room to chat. Because the venue is so ornate and classy, it does not require a ton of florals or decor, unless of course that’s what you want. They also conveniently have a parking lot with complimentary self-parking for guests, less than a minute walk from the building, which was a welcome relief from having to search for street parking in DC. Highly recommend getting married here because every corner is stunning–it will wow your guests and look so pretty in the photos–and the staff is...
Read moreDue to COVID, we postponed our wedding three times and toured nearly every venue in the DC area. Meridian House stood out immediately. The venue itself is beautiful and has a timeless quality that feels special even before any decorations are added. It can easily be adapted to suit any vision for a wedding or event.
The architecture, history, location, and flow between indoor and outdoor spaces, especially the Loggia and Linden Grove, create a setting that feels both grand and intimate. A large part of what made our experience so seamless was Maria Canellis. She was professional, organized, creative, and incredibly patient as she guided us through the challenges of planning during COVID. When our vendors needed additional time to set up, she coordinated everything effortlessly and with grace.
Maria kept us informed on the latest guidelines and best practices, always approaching each change with empathy and calm. Her leadership gave us a sense of ease and allowed us to truly enjoy the process despite the circumstances.
We are deeply grateful to Meridian House and their team for helping us create such a memorable and meaningful...
Read moreI’m a wedding and event planner based in Atlanta, Georgia. I had the pleasure of working at the Meridian International Center on Saturday, September 2nd.
