We went for the large BBQ chicken pizza, and it did not disappoint. First of all, the crust was thin, crisp, and perfectly baked—light enough to not feel heavy but still sturdy enough to hold all the toppings without flopping over. Exactly what you want from a thin-crust pizza. The BBQ sauce base had just the right balance of tangy and sweet, and the chicken was fresh, juicy, and generously spread. What I loved most? The ability to customize—you can easily add or swap toppings, sauces, or proteins, which makes it super flexible if you’re craving something a little different or want to share with a picky crowd. We played around with some add-ons—onions, jalapeños, and a sprinkle of cheddar—and it really took the flavor up a notch. There’s a huge variety of toppings and proteins to choose from (think veggies, extra cheeses, bacon, mushrooms, even vegan options), so you’re not stuck with the basics. The pizza came out fresh, hot, and full of flavor—no greasy mess, no rubbery cheese, just solid, well-balanced bites. ⸻ 🪑 Sitting Space & Atmosphere Hive Bar has a laid-back, modern vibe with plenty of indoor seating that doesn’t feel cramped. Whether you’re there for a quick bite or hanging out for drinks and food with friends, it’s a comfortable and chill setting. There’s also a nice flow to the space—open enough to move around but cozy enough to settle in for a relaxed evening. They’ve got a decent bar setup and some high tables, making it just as good for casual dining as it is for a game night or pre-party hangout. Definitely not your typical loud, overcrowded pizza spot. ⸻ 📝 Final Thoughts Hive Bar isn’t trying to be flashy—it’s just good food in a good space. The BBQ chicken pizza hit all the right notes, and the customization makes it easy to come back and try new combos. Great for groups, solo cravings, or a chill date night with pizza and drinks. ⸻ Rating: • BBQ Chicken Pizza: ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ (4.5/5) – flavorful, crisp, fully customizable • Sitting Space & Vibe: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4/5) – modern, casual, comfy • Overall Experience: ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ (4.5/5) – fresh food, flexible menu, great hangout spot Will definitely be back to try their white sauce base next—or maybe even a build-your-own veggie-loaded version

We flew from Florida to DC for a wedding, decided to come her for a roof top bar experience. The staff at the bar didn’t greet us or acknowledged us while we were in front of them for five minutes. We asked if we could order there and the young woman just nodded, we asked a few questions and she kept nodding or pointing as if she was mute. We ordered drinks and proceeded to sit on a high table to check out the views. I brought my strawberry vape and someone came all the way from the bar to rudely say I couldn’t smoke in there. There are no signs that say no smoking anywhere but I obeyed. All while the table across from us had four young gentleman vaping and they never told them anything. Either make everyone follow the rules or don’t pick and choose who gets to do that. Maybe because I’m Latina I was targeted? but it felt like a personal attack. The few cocktails I was interested in turned out to be frozen sugary overpriced crap. Thanks for the welcome. Never again.

Stayed at a hotel nearby and found the Hive Bar as we walked the neighborhood. We were looking for something fast and tasty and the pizza did not disappoint!! They were trying out a new menu (for the Super Bowl) so we snacked on popcorn chicken and tatters as well. Tatters are a favorite!! “The” Old Fashioned cocktail was amazing!! Our bartender was an expert and made this delicious drink delicious every time! The bar is accessible, with a bar and tables on the first floor, and an elevator to the rooftop bar. The pizza/food is delivered from &Pizza which is attached to the hotel. Street parking was easy on the weekend.

We visited this place over the weekend and had a poor experience. They have an elevator but do not use it! In fact, there is a sign on the upper level to not use the elevator. But, no sign on the ground floor. The staff at the bottom floor made no mention of the faulty elevator to our group, even after telling us to use it and watching us get on the elevator.

We got on the elevator and it slowly went up, then 5 floors up it stopped and the door would not open. We were trapped for at least 5 minutes before the elevator slowly descended a few floors and the door opened. We used the emergency call button to contact the staff but they placed us on hold and hung up on us once. Thankfully we were safe and got out of the elevator.

When confronted about this as we were leaving, the staff member could not have been more rude. Instead of apologizing about the incident, he proceeded to blame us for using the elevator (after he told us to). I’d recommend you take your business elsewhere, and whatever you do, stay off...

Out of Towners Beware! Bottom line -- if you are visiting DC as a tourist avoid this bar. Overpriced and rude staff overrule the atmostphere, and there are much better options in the city that are much more worth your time.

I lived near here one summer at GW for an internship. The views and sunsets were always nice, and the atmosphere is the only good part about this bar. The atmosphere and location really is great. But nothing special about the view, just pretty buildings. I went on two ocassions and both times, with two separate bartenders, I received terrible service. Liked they hated their job and hated serving me. Also, why does the music need to be so loud? Don't expect any sort of "bartending" to be done, at least on the roof, because all they do is serve Cutwaters IN A CAN and small cups of beer and charge as if it is a pint. If you like paying $16 for a canned cocktail, be my guest, but I will never come back to this place again, despite the location...
