We went for the large BBQ chicken pizza, and it did not disappoint. First of all, the crust was thin, crisp, and perfectly bakedâlight enough to not feel heavy but still sturdy enough to hold all the toppings without flopping over. Exactly what you want from a thin-crust pizza.
The BBQ sauce base had just the right balance of tangy and sweet, and the chicken was fresh, juicy, and generously spread. What I loved most? The ability to customizeâyou can easily add or swap toppings, sauces, or proteins, which makes it super flexible if youâre craving something a little different or want to share with a picky crowd.
We played around with some add-onsâonions, jalapeĂąos, and a sprinkle of cheddarâand it really took the flavor up a notch. Thereâs a huge variety of toppings and proteins to choose from (think veggies, extra cheeses, bacon, mushrooms, even vegan options), so youâre not stuck with the basics.
The pizza came out fresh, hot, and full of flavorâno greasy mess, no rubbery cheese, just solid, well-balanced bites.

đŞ Sitting Space & Atmosphere
Hive Bar has a laid-back, modern vibe with plenty of indoor seating that doesnât feel cramped. Whether youâre there for a quick bite or hanging out for drinks and food with friends, itâs a comfortable and chill setting. Thereâs also a nice flow to the spaceâopen enough to move around but cozy enough to settle in for a relaxed evening.
Theyâve got a decent bar setup and some high tables, making it just as good for casual dining as it is for a game night or pre-party hangout. Definitely not your typical loud, overcrowded pizza spot.

đ Final Thoughts
Hive Bar isnât trying to be flashyâitâs just good food in a good space. The BBQ chicken pizza hit all the right notes, and the customization makes it easy to come back and try new combos. Great for groups, solo cravings, or a chill date night with pizza and drinks.

Read moreWe visited this place over the weekend and had a poor experience. They have an elevator but do not use it! In fact, there is a sign on the upper level to not use the elevator. But, no sign on the ground floor. The staff at the bottom floor made no mention of the faulty elevator to our group, even after telling us to use it and watching us get on the elevator.
We got on the elevator and it slowly went up, then 5 floors up it stopped and the door would not open. We were trapped for at least 5 minutes before the elevator slowly descended a few floors and the door opened. We used the emergency call button to contact the staff but they placed us on hold and hung up on us once. Thankfully we were safe and got out of the elevator.
When confronted about this as we were leaving, the staff member could not have been more rude. Instead of apologizing about the incident, he proceeded to blame us for using the elevator (after he told us to). Iâd recommend you take your business elsewhere, and whatever you do, stay off...
Read moreOut of Towners Beware! Bottom line -- if you are visiting DC as a tourist avoid this bar. Overpriced and rude staff overrule the atmostphere, and there are much better options in the city that are much more worth your time.
I lived near here one summer at GW for an internship. The views and sunsets were always nice, and the atmosphere is the only good part about this bar. The atmosphere and location really is great. But nothing special about the view, just pretty buildings. I went on two ocassions and both times, with two separate bartenders, I received terrible service. Liked they hated their job and hated serving me. Also, why does the music need to be so loud? Don't expect any sort of "bartending" to be done, at least on the roof, because all they do is serve Cutwaters IN A CAN and small cups of beer and charge as if it is a pint. If you like paying $16 for a canned cocktail, be my guest, but I will never come back to this place again, despite the location...
