I did so much research before I booked a manicure here. I looked at different nail salons and compared their work and how they did manicures based on people’s reviews and the photos. I finally decided that even though it was on the pricier side, I wanted to book at T&D. I was looking for a gel manicure where they cleaned my cuticles and nails well. I got my manicure on Wednesday. Luna spent a half hour on my nails. I was surprised at how fast it was, because at other places it would be a bit longer. The atmosphere was nice there, and everyone was friendly. It felt like she was doing a good job, and so I was happy as I was getting my nails done. However, the second I left, I noticed the skin on one of my fingers around the nail was still there and peeling. My favorite part about manicures is the cleaning up part. But, I thought oh whatever and tried to get it off. Then over the next two days my nails and the skin around just got worse. This never happened to me before. Usually it would take AT LEAST a week for it to start not looking as good anymore. It was as if I didn’t get a manicure two days ago. I also noticed that the gel was bulky, which I thought ok she did three coats whatever, but then I realized it was uneven (one side of my nail was more bulky than the other). I thought it was weird, I had never gotten a manicure where that happened before. I then also noticed that the ends of my nails did not have polish on them. It felt very low quality in general. What also bothered me the most is that my nails were also filed on a slant - also very weird and had never happened to me before. However, I am not really picky, and I don’t complain much, so I thought oh whatever. I am busy so I tried to move on. But then, I started to get irritated on Sunday - 4 days later. When I was washing my hair, I felt my hair go under the nail polish. I looked at my nails and there was lifting! The edges look really ugly now. Before I moved to this area, I got gel manicures from places that were cheaper and that lasted for at least two weeks without lifting or peeling. Also, other places clean my nails up enough for it to last a bit longer. I am really disappointed with the work here. If you just want a gel manicure, I don’t recommend. It felt like a rushing vibe where they just wanted to make the $45 (not including tip) off of me and get me out. Really disappointing since it’s my first time getting my nails done in the area and I was treating myself and I wanted them to look nice for Easter :( I’ll be looking for a better place.

Came across T&D nail salon by chance after another nearby place refused to take me as a walk-in and - wow - am I glad I found it! This will now be my regular go-to bc it was that good! Best pedicure I’ve ever had! Super high tech and artistic salon with latest trends and sanitation. I even returned the next day for gel extensions (which I’ve never had before) after the pleasant owner explained how they use more high tech methods and certain British products there that are healthier and less destructive for brittle nails like mine. I never do fingers for this reason, but she convinced me to return for either builder gel or gel extensions which she said are good options. So far I love them! The salon was busy and bustling with positive energy for a reason- clients were professional women or students from nearby GW university. Happy staff - young, friendly, seemed to genuinely enjoy work and wow were the technicians artistic and talented in addition to being friendly, polite and wonderful artists. A lot of return customers coming in were greeted by happy hellos and hugs (a good sign). They have bottles of water available and I was offered one at least 3x. The salon is not huge, but is bright and sunny with a lot of natural light. Very clean. They don’t even allow you to look at the colors and touch all the bottles to spread germs. Instead they show you a book of colors with mock nails, so you can see how the color will actually look - hygienic and practical! Also the first time I had my cuticles removes using what looked like a dremel instead of painfully poked and scraped with other tools. I appreciated that. My nail technician easily created the Fall ombrĆ© nail look that I wanted - exactly like the trendy photo I showed her and she also added some of her own suggested embellishments. I’m so happy with how it turned out! It was also fascinating to watch her work and apply all the different colors, sparkles, chrome finish etc. it really is an art! The ladies next to me were also getting trendy nails right off the pages of vogue. One lady kept asking her technician to readjust the gel design to get it perfect and the tech smiled and happily kept working at it. My new favorite salon!

This was one of the worst nail experiences I’ve ever had, and I strongly do not recommend choosing Ayana if you visit this salon. I’ve come here before and had a great manicure experience with a different technician, which is why I decided to come back. But this time—about a week ago—was absolutely awful. My appointment started at 12:00 PM with Ayana for both a basic manicure and pedicure (nothing fancy, just one or two colors). It was supposed to be done by 1:45 PM, but by 3:00 PM, it still wasn’t finished—and I had to leave. That’s three hours for a basic service, and it still wasn’t complete. Worse, during the appointment, Ayana kept redoing the nails and repeatedly made mistakes. She used tools so roughly that four of my fingernails started bleeding because she pushed too hard into the nail beds. I had to apply pressure to stop the bleeding myself. She also couldn’t find the right color I asked for (a light jelly green), and ended up putting a bright green on my little finger instead—which looked totally out of place. Another coworker eventually found the right jelly green color and tried to fix some of the damage, but overall it was a disaster. Ayana promised to text me to schedule a time to come back and fix it, so I still gave her a tip. But guess what? No text, no email, nothing. After two days, I had to call the salon myself—angry—before they even responded. By then, they offered me a late appointment, but I was already out of town and couldn’t go back. Now, just one week later, the polish on my thumb completely peeled off and my forefinger is already chipped halfway. My nails look terrible. If you still want to try this salon, do not book with Ayana. Terrible experience, zero accountability, and completely unprofessional.

I hate to have to do this because I really wanted to have a good experience based on all the rave reviews, but this was the worst nail experience I've had in a very long time. It started fine. I came in with an appointment. They were already full so I waited. That was not the problem. I got seated by a very nice woman. She greeted me and another woman and explained to both of us why it was so full because two employees were out sick. I told her that was fine. She then asked me what I wanted I said it was getting a fill for builder gel. She nodded and began to gently remove the nail polish from my fingers with the proper tools. After the second finger and she was about to start on the 3rd when a woman named Anu came and rushed her off of my fingers to do another job I believe it was a pedicure. The woman did not introduce herself she did not greet me she did not speak she grabbed my hands in a very rough manner and began to take off the builder gel. I pulled my hand back and stated I don't want them removed I'm getting a fill for my builder gel. She looked at me confused and then said okay. This happened after she nicked the builder gel off of my finger and did not apologize for doing so. She then began forcefully removing the paint off my fingers, rushing and not paying much attention to me as she kept chatting informally with others. After she nicked another nail and kept trying to go on I pulled my hand back and asked her if she was okay, if everything is okay because she just nicked me. I informed her that it appeared that the other woman did not nick me and she was taking off all of the paint in a more gentle manner. She again looked at me confused. I asked are you okay. She said yes. The lady next to her, I believe her name was Kaya seemed very nice and tried to explain it away. I was growing increasingly unhappier as everything progressed. As my nails had already started to get worked on I just wanted to continue and get it done. That should never be anything that a person says when getting a service like getting your nails done or a pedicure or anything else. I should not have had to ask her if she was okay. She should have been the one asking me and trying to accommodate me as it was my money that I was paying for the service with. She continued to fully rush through the fill. She did not communicate. She did not ask me anything. The only thing she asked me was did I want my nails cut. This was an abominable experience I have half a mind to cancel my payment because I am not satisfied. Because she rushed so and did not care about my nails the paint does not match. It has steaks. I only asked for one color and it looks like I have two colors on my end. I am so disappointed with Anu. She quite literally seemed like she didn't have the time of day for me and did not want to do the service on my hands. I would have much preferred the other woman who started the service but she said that she did not do builder gel but she only said that to me after I asked her name and apologies I do not remember her name. I asked who the other lady was who was sitting next to me who was also doing a builder gel fill who seemed to be taking her time and cared about her client. Again her name I believe is Kaya. I will be asking for Kaya if I ever do return to T&D salon. But I am not sure if I will ever do that again because that was not only a waste of time it was also a waste of my money. It would absolutely show good faith if the owner, who was not in today, would get in touch with me in some kind of way. I would appreciate an apology or anything to show that they honestly did not mean for Anu to be aggressive and unprofessional but at this point I...
