Four trips back and forth from Sutton to Wasilla to get it right. I tell him I have USB and he says all devices including my old computer has USBC. Not. I went to Charter College to study Electronics because they're unmarked satellite dish was in the parking lot and we all thought it was a classroom. 2 years of Charter College and the GCI said don't call us we'll call you when I try to apply for a job, and they put their name on their dish, our classroom that wasn't. Charter College moved from the C Street Business Park to Lake Otis and Northern Lights canceling the electronics class. I didn't qualify to work there and look who they've got. He warned me my data I wouldn't transfer to the new phone. It didn't matter to me if it did or it didn't but it did transfer. I'm just bitter bitter bitter for many reasons. But they're not fake as fake as AT&T. Like Singer sewing machines just a name. I understand why they bought Alaskcom, and like all their sneaky buyouts recreating AT&T, the reason for their buying of Alaskcom wasn't their love for Alaska but the subsidies and access tariffs, their big Earth stations obsolete, abandoning the Alaska Market except for the dense cities, GCI has spent fortunes bringing ground base fiber and radio backbone, all the way to Kotzebue with service that's very expensive for people with whose job is to live off the land and barter with Limited employment opportunities. After all of that investment, hundreds of millions of dollars, Arctic cables and a myriad of satellites are bringing a cornucopia of low-cost options making the fiber seem as redundant as AT&T's old Earth dishes. Not the same company when you had to dial 16 digits before you made a call with your calling card, GCI was created as the Alaska version of MCI, the first to challenge AT&T and the Bell System and Monopoly. Once AT&T broke up that was the end of Ernestine, a professional that understood every operation, including those at Edgar J's. No doubt she was the operator that took Forrest Gump's call reporting the flashlights at the Watergate Hotel. Lily Tomlin. If you don't know check it out. That's how old I am. You just can't get service like that anymore. Google on YouTube Lily Tomlin this is a recording. Have a good day and a lots of laughs. In the end I love GCI when compared to the alternatives. It's just that I miss the professionalism that came with a wall phone. And it worked when the...
Read moreI wish business were forced to be honest. I am tired of extremely limited actual service for home and away. Most of the time there's no phone, texting, or internet. Calling customer service was over 200 people in front of me every time!!! After waiting for hours to get either tech help or what ever help for the issue, it comes down to businesses uses excuse after excuse for explaining how long I won't have service for. It's been six months and no improvement. I have been paying$237.00 a month for hardly any service. Because of a 2 year contract, I can't hope for better service. Going in the store is the best option for customer service, but they can only help with allowing you to use their internet in their store. They promise it will be better when the five g towers are installed, but I feel like a refund for 80 percent of total cost would be the honest approach. Update: On 12-18-22 We went into the Wasilla GCI store with a broken tablet under warranty. We were given a phone number to call to mail in broken tablet & they would mail us a new one of what we originally purchased. So we did as instructed and calledcthis âoutsourcedâ company in USA. But, despite written proof of paying $10 monthly for insurance. The âoutsourcedâ company had no record of ANY of my five devices I purchased from GCI Wasilla store!!! So I calmly went back into the store & they emailed the âoutsourcedâ company. I wait till the next day & call again. Now the outsourced company tells me that only two of my familysâ FIVE devices have the purchased insurances & you guessed not the one I am calling about is covered. I told them I had written proof I have paid for this insurance for a year now. I am still waiting as Instructed because unless I am dumb enough to buy insurance and never use it, I must wait to see if the outsourced company gets the email & then wait some more if I am even lucky enough for that just to be able to mail in the broken device under âsupposedâ warranty. Not one good change has come since GCI deliberately chose yo outsource ALL phone calls, repair, tech support, & insurance on products. I wish I would have...
Read moreUpdate- 2019- we signed up for cable in July and weâve had nothing but issues ever cents they came out in July and August having to reset and connect the cable box to the Internet and after they leave two weeks later after what they had loaded up the menu your menu guide would disappear your on-demand would disappear. I called the tech-support in September with the same complaint as the previous two months. now the previous times I called everybody was wonderful on the phone they were patient they troubleshoot it with me they made the appointment. But this call I made in September⌠He was so rude and unhelpful he told me that they would not come out for a third time that this is not their issue and that it was an Internet issue which we have through MTA by the way. Because itâs cheaper and better. He said 3 to 4 times during a conversation that there was nothing he could do and that I should get the GCI Wi-Fi I felt like he was a salesman instead of the tech support. I was frustrated I voiced my concerns and the conversation went no where. I called MTA told them the whole issue they sent somebody out even though when we troubleshoot it my signal was great they drilled a hole in the floor dropped an ethernet cord down plugged it into the cable box and directly into the router so we didnât have to worry about the Wi-Fi signal anymore.Or so I thought. This is not an MTA Wi-Fi issue this is a GCI cable issue that I felt has been left unresolved. We have been without cable for over 45 days yet they still bill us I am actively looking on the Internet for alternatives. I hope that they see this report and somebody higher up reaches out to fix this because prior to the last four months We have been happy with our services at GCI my previous review was over two years ago and I gave it five stars maybe theyâre under different management and thatâs the issue.
2017- so friendly n helpful....
