
I used to love planet fitness, but I realized I starting not going as much and was still paying for it. I had the black card membership so I wanted to use the benefits from it so I started going more again but found it was hard to get help at the service desk, either there was no one there at all or it was just so busy I would wait for a while and end up wasting my time not getting help. I decided to cancel in May of this year, I was hoping to do it online because I’m so busy with work, but that wasn’t an option unfortunately. I went in to Planet fitness and I signed the form for the cancellation, months later I realized I was still being charged $23 per month plus the $40 annual fee. I was frustrated a bit, so I want back in end of July and and explained what happened, it got officially canceled this time and I was told I would receive a refund request email within a few days. 3 weeks went by and I went back in today. I said I still haven’t received the email to get my money back, they checked and said “you did cancel back in May, and there was a note about there being a computer issue that day, so that’s why it didn’t go through,” so still obviously not my fault. So once again I am told they will put in the request for a refund and it will be decided whether or not my refund will be accepted or denied. Excuse me?? I know this employee was only doing her job, so I don’t blame her, but they can deny my refund still over something that isn’t even my fault? Absolutely insane and I’m so done with this place. Read moreOver a year ago I gave the Wasilla Planet Fitness 5 Stars. I now rate the place with 2-Stars primarily due to, in my opinion, poor management of the facility. On a positive note, the young staff that work there are always friendly and professional and doing the best they can with the resources they have. Unfortunately, I believe these young people have inadequate senior management they work under. I say this primarily because of continuing issues with the water supply and hot water availability in the men's locker room that management has outright failed to address and repeatedly blames on the city of Wasilla. These issues have been going on for a year give or take and have only gotten worse. Taking an ice cold shower and/or having the water pressure drop to zero in the middle of a shower after a workout is getting old. Additionally, management fails to properly secure the shower heads with plumbers tape which causes them to repeatedly leak and work their way off the threads creating a potential health and safety issue. Bottom line is the place needs a manager who will take action and remedy this big issues along with the smaller issues. There are smaller, somewhat insignificant issues such as the clocks in the place repeatedly reading different times or not working that substantiate my poor management theory. To end on a positive note, good membership price with all the right equipment which is usually maintained fairly well. Read moreMy first visit as a guest yesterday left me not wanting to get a membership. I was really looking forward to going as it was my first time going since I’ve had my baby, 11 months ago and going thru really hard pp. The staff was not very welcoming or kind and they didn’t seem to want to do anything but stand around. I forgot my water bottle so I asked if they sold water and they said for 1.50 I said I’ll go get my cash! I came back and they said they only take card, I commented that they couldn’t have called after me to tell me that when I said I was going to get my cash? And the kid said I was being aggressive? I was out of breath from running back to the locker room to get my cash then the locker wouldn’t lock so I had to switch lockers before running back out. The whole interaction just left a bad taste in my mouth and as soon as he made that comment I could feel the tears swelling because I was already dealing with a friends passing, other health issues and anxiety surrounding the gym because I had never been there before. The only reason I stayed was because I was there with a friend. I’d recommend some customer service classes to your customer facing staff. You never know what someone’s going thru.
