I’ll start by saying I was very underwhelmed. I’m not sure if the “House of Fire” gets its name from from their pizza oven, which I’m pretty sure is not a fire brick oven, or the TV above the counter that loops a burning fire. When we walked in, the vibe was that we were their very first customers ever. The lady who took our order was kind enough but for lack of a better way to phrase it, it was just a weird atmosphere. We ordered a build your own pizza for my wife and I to split and my son ordered a Caesar salad and garlic knots. For being their second set of customers in the restaurant at the time, the food took quite a while to get to the table which gave us plenty of time to soak in all the oddities. The first I’ve already mentioned. The oven. Next, for a pizza place that serves beer and has TVs all over the walls, why are we having to watch your pizza promotion videos. It’s Sunday. Turn on some football or something interesting. Besides the tv showing a burning fireplace, there was no “House of fire” vibes at all. They brought my sons Cesar Salad out in a to go box and some weird oil as the dressing? Isn’t a Cesar Salad supposed to have Cesar dressing? The croutons were unlike any croutons I’ve ever had. Hard as a rock until you broke through and then chewy stale bubble gum in the middle. The pizza was actually good. But there was no Parmesan or red pepper at the table. When I went to the counter to ask for some, the said that there was a charge for the Parmesan. I was shocked. Never in my life have I been to a pizza place where they charged for Parmesan. I felt like I was in the twilight zone. Plus with how much money they just made off my $67 dollar order, you would think that it would have been enough to cover the cost. I will say that it seemed like a clean restaurant but that might just be because it’s new. The bottom line is that the weird atmosphere and the price, and the poor service made the good pizza taste not so good. We...
Read moreI’ve had House Of Fire’s pizza a few times now because a couple of people have brought it to work since they opened and it’s been a new favorite around the shop.
I was having company tonight and really wanted to get into some more of their BBQ chicken pizza so I placed a carryout order.
When I arrived, the two folks who were at the front behind the counter were both very engaging, easy to talk to, and repeatedly brought up points about why they love their jobs. To me, it was extremely obvious that these people took pride in their work, and felt an ownership of what they were doing and the service they were providing. While I waited for my carryout order to be completed (which was to be expected because I arrived well before the projected time), I chatted with these employees for a while. They maintained a diligent work pace, continuing to be very productive at getting orders made all while having a conversation with me.
The food was excellent, but I already knew that. The place was clean and seemed like a nice place to sit down and have dinner, but that’s not what I did, so that’s not the point of what I want to express.
It’s rare to walk into a food service establishment, especially one that’s not a fine dining restaurant, and feel that the staff actually cared that you, individually, were present.
As far as I’m concerned, happy staff means there’s good management, and I want to give my money to people who take care of their people, so this won’t be the last time I get pizza from House Of Fire. That’s...
Read moreWe decided to order from here for the first time on Sunday. We did the online order and surprisingly enough one minute after we placed the order, It said the pizza is ready for pick up. We were a little confused by this, but whatever we went with it.
The pizza here is expensive. Just to put things in perspective you can get a bigger pizza for cheaper at Moose’s tooth then you can here. We ordered a large cheese pizza, a large pepperoni pizza and a side of garlic knots.
As other people have complained about, you get a tiny little container of marinara sauce to go with the garlic knots… and it wasn’t even filled properly… It’s quite ridiculous. You guys really should consider fixing this as more than a couple of people have complained about this..
Overall, the pizza is just OK. Nothing to write home about and certainly not as good as pizza that I would get from an authentic Italian joint in New York.
We really wanted to like this place but it’s no different than the 55,000 other pizza places in Wasilla that are just mediocre.
We really hope you guys do well as this is a locally owned business, but you guys need to make some improvements. I would start out with having your staff say hello when people would enter. Nobody said a single word to us when...
