I bought my wife's engagement ring from another jeweler in Ohio before we moved to Connecticut. My wife and I bought our wedding bands from Jared's in Waterford. Our salesperson was really nice and helpful and really enjoyed the overall experience, I have no problem with her. The weird manager however is another story, the manger hovered around and occasionally inserting himself in our conversation while he obviously listened to us in the background. I paid for our wedding rings in cash and was satisfied with the price and quality. A couple of months later my wife's engagement ring loses a stone, I filed a claim with our insurance company, and I decided to go back to Jared's because of the top notch service. I figured it would be a no-brainer, why wouldn't they help someone who bought from them and possibly buy more?. The insurance agent told me that they authorized the repair and to work with the jeweler. A week later we walk into Jared's and ended up speaking to the same manager again and explained to him the situation, how the insurance company said they reached out to them and they would pay to have our ring fixed. He told us first, that in all his years of working "in the business" that he has never heard of such a thing. Which confused me, it a reputable insurance company and this is a very basic concept. I simply explain to him that the ring is insured and that once they fix the ring insurance will pay them and then I try to show him the paperwork, which he does a stellar job of not looking act. This past week I tried calling and every time I call, the management is busy and I am asked to leave my name and number and "they will call me back". I understand that we didn't buy our engagement ring from them, however we did buy our other rings and Christmas is coming up and I could possibly have bought more. So this absolutely baffles me that he is so resistant in providing service which will more than likely cost around $100-$150. Jared's will do a good job of selling you whatever, however they will not go above and beyond for the customer and nowadays there are plenty of other jewelers that will. If I were them I would promote the manager to customer status and get somebody with a better business sense to...
Read moreMy fiancé and I came in to look at new engagement rings. I made the mistake of using an online jeweler for our first engagement ring, that online jeweler destroyed the finish when we had it resized, offered to make a whole new ring but didn't follow through. We came in and told our tale of woe to Brenda and Patrick and explained that we had a very short timeline as we are traveling to visit my mother who lives 1,000 miles away, for her 60th birthday as a surprise. With their help, we found a ring that we absolutely fell in love with and a lab grown diamond that was stunning! This meant that not only did the ring have to be resized, but the head had to be ordered and replaced to match the shape of the diamond we chose. Patrick let us know that our ring should be ready the day before we left. To our delight, I received an email stating that our ring was done a day early!! Patrick is an absolute Rockstar!! I usually prefer to patronize smaller businesses, but with an investment of this nature, having the corporate backing of a lifetime service agreement, multiple nationwide locations, and a solid reputation, Jared was our first choice and they delivered in a big way. Patrick and the folks in the shop far exceeded our expectations and have earned themselves a customer for life!!
Thank you Patrick, you helped turn my fiancée's tears from tears of sadness into...
Read moreI went to Jared to get a watch serviced and battery replaced. There were two customers in the store and three employees. Two employees were helping one customer and I had to wait about 15 minutes to be helped. It then took another 10 minutes to drop off my watch. I was told I needed to pay a $100 hold for the battery replacement and the watch would be sent out. I was told that prior to any work being done, I would be contacted the the price, if it was less the charge would be reduced and if it was more the charge would be increased, but either way I would be contacted to provide approval to do the work. Jared called me several weeks later and said the watch was ready to be picked up. I went and asked for a receipt and breakdown of costs and Jared refused. I reiterated my request and was told no. I have no proof of what work was done. I was never contacted to agree to the cost and very disappointed that the associate refused to provide a receipt. I find it highly unlikely that the battery, pressure test and tax summed to exactly $100. I would never trust them with a...
