Took my Juki serger in to be serviced (I run a very busy small business and am using the machine 10+ hours a day every day). Got it back and it wouldn't feed the fabric through. I troubleshooted it, and still nothing. Returned it to be fixed and the guy was condescending and rude and kept telling me it was because I was using my machine wrong. He clearly knew very little about sewing with knit fabric, but nevertheless still felt justified in insisting that I was the one who was using my machine incorrectly.
COTTON WOVEN IS DIFFERENT FROM POLYESTER LYCRA AND REQUIRES DIFFERENT MACHINE SETTINGS, DESPITE WHAT THIS MAN KEPT TELLING ME. EVERYONE WHO'S EVER SEWN WILL TELL YOU THAT. EVEN THE MANUAL STATES THIS. He told me I shouldn't ever adjust the thread tension or differential feed. Are you kidding me? I honestly am flabbergasted that someone who works with sergers would hold this (laughably incorrect) opinion, and then try to pass it off as fact.
Pro tip, friends: different fabric requires different settings on your machine. Cotton woven feeds through differently than fleece or lightweight polyester will. YOU MUST ADJUST YOUR MACHINE SETTINGS OR YOUR STITCHES AND TENSION WILL BE WONKY.
Anyway, I'm sure this is a fine store for quilters (since that seems to be all they do there) or casual hobby sewists, but if you're a professional or a knowledgable amateur and don't wish to be talked to like you know nothing about your craft, go somewhere else where they'll treat you politely and where they know what...
Read moreMy first experience with Franks was to purchase a new serger. Brad was very knowledgeable and took the time to explain features and pricing. Since then I have taken a variety of classes, always lots of fun with lots of helpful tips. Looking forward to purchasing an embroidery machine and participating in more classes. Great prices and friendly staff!
Forward 2 years...As planned, I purchased an amazing Babylock embroidery machine and still can't say enough about the wonderful service and friendly, helpful staff at Sew Much More. Since my last review, this store has grown not only in size, but in class offerings, the introduction of the Bernina line, an even bigger selection of threads, and a great selection of fabrics. I'm now looking forward to upgrading my embroidery machine and continuing to attend classes in the beautiful expanded space.
I now live too far away from Sew Much More to be able to attend classes and shop the great sales that happen often. I did, however, purchase my 10 needle Babylock Valiant while living in Nevada and Brad was kind enough to hold it until I traveled back to pick it up. He went out of his way to pack it for traveling too! Now that I live where sewing stores are few and far between (Mexico), I truly appreciate Sew Much More, its friendly and knowledgeable staff, and amazing selection of classes, machines, fabric, notions, and more! I follow the Facebook group and love watching Tuesdays at 2 with Wendy, who always makes me laugh with her joke...
Read moreI have been to this store on a few occasions as it is not very close to me. While there everyone was very friendly and helpful. I liked the choices of threads available and I'm a big fan of the Creative Grid Rulers which I was happy to see they have a variety. One of the things I wish they had more of were machine embroidery files. I also made a suggestion of providing more of the DIME products as well as looking into offering some of the DIME seminars. I provided information regarding these seminars and the website. I've been to two of these and have had to travel to Green Bay and Appleton to attend them. It would be nice to attend them closer. I have not seen any additional DIME products offered nor anything about seminars being offered. I was told by the person who I provided the info to that this store didn't carry many machine embroidery files because people could get them online. I thought that was rather odd since I do try to support local businesses. All in all it's...
