I live 4 states away from this auction house but I have gone there 3 times in the last 4 months to pick up a car full of items each time (they do offer professional shipping though). Descriptions are thoughtful and they try to describe damage which is appreciated since I buy glass. First time I went there, they made it clear to me if I had any problems to let them know and they would fix it. No problems though. I trust this auction house to also handle my fragile items after I purchase them, so I don't mind picking up a few days later (which is also nice they have 4 days for pick-up after each auction which works great for anyone's schedule.). They are all friendly and I have gotten to know 4 employees well and my husband and I enjoy talking with them while we pack up a car full of items..... If I were to be on the consigning end of it, I would gladly do that as well since I know they will do their best to describe the items to get the best outcome for me if I were selling. Good descriptions, Honest people, and they ship. Couldn't ask for a better place to buy and sell in my opinion and I have dealt with many well known reputable auction houses for the last 20 years as a collector of fine antiquities. Thanks to the Broken Arch auction gallery team, from The...
Read moreI had my first experience with Broken Arch this week. Four days before tonight's auction, I sent them an email through their website asking for more pictures of a lot of 20 to 30 paper Halloween items. In the listing , the items were just heaped on top of each other with very few pictures of the individual items. The lot sold for $675 tonight. I was the under bidder. I went to the highest bid I was comfortable with given the information I had. I never received a response to my email, and subsequently, no extra pictures. If I had pictures, and the items were in good condition, I could have raised my max bid by $400- 500. I can live without more stuff, but the consignor lost several hundred dollars. Moral of the story: If you have a place for customers to send emails on your website, monitor it and respond to reasonable questions. Or would taking a few more pictures have been too much extra work?
Added after their response:
And the morning after posting this review I received an email from HiBid telling me I have been "disallowed from bidding" on their auctions. That's hysterical and sad. I would never consider...
Read moreI was fortunate to win three nice lots of ironstone, transferware, and antique silhouettes several months ago. Several of the items were gifts and I looked forward to receiving. I called the owner, Travis, who assured me my items would be delivered safe and sound as I was worried as they were fragile. The delivery consisted of three boxes. 2/3's of the item items arrived broken into many pieces. I called the owner who seemed reassuring. He said he would make it good as he realized the items had been poorly packed. He stated he had insurance and would send me a check. No check ever arrived even after Travis assured me three times one would. I even offered to take on the insurance claim myself but he never responded. All I have to say is this is the sketchiest auction house I have tried to work with. Buyer Beware. I mean really Beware.
In Response to Your Response: Travis. The Evening when the damaged goods arrived, I sent you several images after we talked, detailing the damage. When you realized what had occurred, you said you would accept the responsibility for the poor packing/shipping, which...
