Reny's Department Store — Local services in Wells

There was an employee in the shoe department that was very rude. It's a small department and the shoes are already out for customers to look at. There seems to be no reason to have an employee dedicated to this small area. I had been looking at shoes. The woman asked of I needed any help (ok so far doing her job and it seemed nice). I replied no thank you. And she decided that was a good time to stand next to me and adjust boxes that were already straight on the shelf. I said something to my daughter, who was in the other side of me about the softness of the slippers and the woman muttered something about 'what's the big deal they're just normal shoes, just wear them around all the time big deal' and she 'thought I was looking at shoes and those were just slippers.' I told her slippers are shoes and then told my daughter that we were leaving. Thanks to this employee's rudeness Reny's lost business. update to my previous 5 star rating dropped it down to 3 stars because of our last visit. Normally my small 20lb well behaved dog is a hit whenever we shop here (or other locations) but this past visit was not the case. I had an older woman follow me around just waiting for a chance to yell at me and then VERY loudly scolded me for the most asinine thing completely embarrassing me. When I sincerely apologized for offending her, she rolled her eyes at me... clearly she's just a miserable person but it definitely made me rethink visiting this location again if she will be there. I still like Renys stores and havent had an issue at any other location though.

I have often found a wide selection of outdoor and textile-style items. I have enjoyed shopping at this location as I have grown up visiting many of the other locations ie. Ellsworth, Saco, Falmouth, Windham, and others. This is a nice Maine retailer. Most recently I experienced poor phone reception on the end of the store as I was trying to find a specific item and called ahead. The phone was unanswered and remained a static sound for a few minutes. I was eventually able to get through to a worker. Unfortunately, by the time that happened, it was too late (15 minutes before closing.) I will return to this location as necessary, though I would like to see better treatment over the phone.
