Covet Oddities — Local services in West Chicago Township

My friend really wanted to check this place out and I said I’d go with her because, yeah, this shop seemed interesting. I’ve been to shops like this before in other cities and they usually have something entertaining to offer. Anyway, I kinda thought we’d be in and out in 15-20 mins. Maybe find something cool to buy. Well, we met Ben and Erica and ended up staying for well over an hour learning about all the cool stuff they have there- and not in a sales-y “let me corner you and try to sell you stuff” way. We were the ones asking all the questions about all the cool stuff they had and they are so passionate and knowledgeable and are happy to tell you about everything they have. I learned so much. Yes, it’s a shop. But it’s sooo much more once you start talking to them. Very well curated. Very worth your time....

The owners are really passionate about their collection! me and the boy i was with talked with the man who runs it (I forget his name) for like over an hour and ended up buying a ton of stuff. Their prices are so so reasonable especially for an oddity store and the guy is really serious about his craft. He gave me a tampon too :D this place is dope I’m sad I don’t live in Chicago otherwise I’d be here every weekend. You guys should come check it out, they just opened and it’s run by this lovely couple. They have an eclectic perfume collection, a good selection of books, some witchcraft stuff, obviously a bunch of bones and dead animals, and a ton of other weird shit you guys have to go see! Lots of home decor and creepy stuff that scratch that morbid itch. Also they have a little museum section...

Covet is a new oddity shop with something for everyone, vintage photos, books, crystals, true crime magazines, ethically obtained animal specimens, and even some human remains. There's even a death room with crime scene photos, letters from serial killers, and different death artifacts. The owners are lovely people who have carefully curated their collection over the years and it really shows in the quality of the items here. Will definitely be back to see what's in store...
