North & Sheffield Commons — Local services in Chicago

I have been a loyal customer of this mall for the past 30 years, but yesterday I had a really bad experience because of an overly agresive security guard. I parked my car to get coffee at Peet's Coffee & Tea - Coffee Shop and my two daughters asked if it is okay for them to go to a Sephora store across the street, as they leave the car, i was texting a friend when not even they walked few steps they were approached by a security guard telling them they can park there and leave. I my daughter came back to the car to make aware of the situation and I explained the guard that I was going to buy coffee after I am finishing sending the text. The guard told me that I have 5 minutes to buy the coffee and leave, which prompt me to ask him, what it is wrong with him. I have never experience anything like that. I walked to the coffee to buy my coffee and the guard walked into the shop with a demeanor in his face like observing how long I will be there. I've got so upset!, I do understand they must do their job if someone park in the premises and walk to another shop not located in the mall. That job is to call the towing company and have the car towed!, not to harrass the customers, telling them how long they have to buy coffee or how long they can stay there. Worst, even chase me to the coffee shop. I complained to the mall management office, but if I enter the mall and I see that crazy man, i would bail out of there as soon...

My 18 year old sister and I (I’m 16) parked in this mall to go to Lululemon. We were unaware of the parking policy not allowing you to park in the mall then leave. For this reason our car was towed. This was very frustrating because we are two teenagers and we just didn’t see the signs warning us of this. We would have definitely moved our car if we were made aware but unfortunately we were not. We were rudely surprised after returning to lot after being gone for less than 30 minutes. We were left with no way for paying to get the car or a way to get there and had to contact our parents. The security guard responsible for reporting and getting our car towed didn’t even say anything to us as well. Additionally when we looked up to see if our car was put in the tow lot, which was 45 minutes away, yet it had meaning that the guard did not even attempt to tell us of the issue and just immediately had our car towed. BEWARE. My friend and I ran to Lululemon to return and item and were planning on visiting stores in the Commons right after. They had the car towed within the 15 min time frame, in an emptier lot, on a holiday, during a pandemic. I actually thought the car was stolen. A regular at this plaza, I will never shop at this plaza again, as the whole situation felt shady. The signs are worn, spaced at distance, and on the back side of a bush.
