About 2 months ago, I submitted my luxury candle for consideration of consignment to Candle Delerium. I was asked for 4 samples, which I turned over in person along with the necessary paperwork. After about a month & a half, I received a rejection email stating that after careful consideration, they were unable to take on our brand. Of course I was disappointed, but rejection is a part of life & I accepted their decision.
When I called the store to see about picking up the remaining products, I was told that they didn’t usually return the samples. Mind you, these candles are no ordinary candle! They each have crystal embellished vessels & jewelry box style boxes.
It didn’t really make sense to me why they would feel entitled to keep the 4 boxes, the 4 hand jeweled vessels & the 4 chrome lids, as well as 2 other one of a kind jeweled vessels, both with chrome lids & boxes, that had also been submitted for consideration, minus the wax. After all, we are a small business just starting up & if they had rejected our products, why would they assume that we wouldn’t want to refurbish & eventually sell them? These weren’t gifts, rather submissions for consideration.
Brice, one of the managers told me that he had one of my candles at his house! But he never agreed to return it?! Shady much? He did however agree to return the 2 jeweled vessels without wax & 1 candle that hadn’t been burned. Strangely enough, the 3 items that they did handover were all conveniently missing the chrome lids! It’s bad enough that we already had been rejected by the store & now they’re disrespecting me & my product by mysteriously separating the lids? I had almost been willing to accept the fact that they were refusing to return the remaining samples, but the missing lids really made me feel some type of way!
When I confronted Brice over the phone about the missing lids, he acted like he never saw any lids! We all know they didn’t magically disappear! He put the phone down to converse with another employee named Ariana, & I could hear her say, “we tell them we don’t want their candles, & now they want their lids back?”
ABSOLUTELY! 100% WE WANT OUR LIDS BACK!
Brice then went on to tell me that we would definitely NOT be doing business in the future & he hoped this isn’t the way I always handle business! First of all the feeling is quite mutual! We definitely don’t need our beautiful candles in on consignment in your over saturated, dusty, dog hair covered store. Most of their candles have little to NO cold throw & are collecting dust & dog hair! Second of all, Brice straight up admitted that the real reason we had not been accepted was because of one of the owners closest & dearest friend had a similar, albeit subpar candle, that would be too much competition!
He then had the nerve to tell me, that I should be grateful for all the time he had spent with me (at most 5 minutes) & that he had given me advice that most people would “pay for!” Like, are you serious? He’s actually the one who asked ME who my manufacturer was & seemed taken aback when I explained that our candles were handmade by myself & my business partner. In fact, he was asking ME what type of wax I use & which company’s fragrance oils I used, because he loved the Gardenia. We never needed any of your feedback… but if it makes you feel better, think what you want! At one point, he even said that employees had been asking to take home our vessels, but he stated that he had said he knew we would be back for these! Weird flex, but ok.
My advice to anyone considering submitting their candle for consignment: be ready to deal with a lot of attitude, a lot of shadiness, politics, & favoritism! And I strongly suggest, writing up your own contract if you ever want to see any of your remaining sample products returned. Because although he stated over the phone otherwise, there is absolutely nothing written on the submission form that clearly stated anything about the return of potential refurbished products.
And always remember: Rejection, is...
Read moreThere are two places in Los Angeles where I consistently find peace, comfort, and a sense of grounding — my little gifts to myself whenever I need to recharge. Fittingly, they sit right next to each other: the Los Angeles Flower Market on Crescent Heights and Santa Monica Blvd., and just a few steps away, Candle Delirium.
Candle Delirium is, hands down, the most complete and well-curated candle store I’ve ever experienced. It’s not flashy or showy — which honestly speaks volumes about how solid the place is. It’s been a fixture in West Hollywood for years, and the minute you step inside, it feels like a hidden gem known only to true candle lovers. Their selection is unparalleled — every major candle brand you could imagine is here, alongside smaller boutique names you’d never discover elsewhere. Somehow, they consistently sell them at prices lower than most stores and even below online retailers, which is rare in this city.
What really sets Candle Delirium apart, though, is the staff. Carlos, James, and Stacey are phenomenal — each bringing something unique. Stacey has this incredible gift of knowing when I’m having a rough day and always manages to lift my spirits. Carlos is the expert — his genuine love for scents and brands makes every visit feel like a masterclass. James is quieter but honestly brilliant — he somehow asks just the right questions to figure out what fits your life, your mood, and your home. And the wild part? He remembers it all the next time you walk in.
Lately, there’s been a new energy in the store, thanks to Thomas — one of the original owners, now...
Read moreIt had been a while since I last ordered from Candle Delirium, but a recent special drew me back in—and I’m so glad it did. While there was an unfortunate mix-up with the shipping, what truly stood out to me was the way it was handled by STACY, a customer service rep who embodies everything a luxury brand should represent.
From the moment I reached out, Stacy was exceptional. Her communication was prompt, clear, and incredibly professional. She responded within minutes and followed up exactly when she said she would, even when additional research was needed.
But what really impressed me was the level of care she brought to resolving the issue. Stacy went above and beyond—handling everything with grace, patience, and a sense of genuine dedication to making sure I felt heard and valued. She didn’t just fix the problem; she elevated the entire experience. I felt completely taken care of.
Candle Delirium may be known for its high-end, beautifully crafted candles, but it's clear they also take pride in treating their clients with the same luxury and attention to detail. Stacy is a perfect reflection of that standard. I couldn’t be more satisfied with how everything was resolved, and I’ll absolutely be...
