Tu Madre in West Hollywood is a gem and one of those restaurants you cannot help but recommend to friends. The atmosphere is fun and welcoming, with a lively energy that makes it perfect for a night out with friends or even a casual date. The tacos here are what set the place apart. These are not ordinary tacos. They are specialty street tacos with bold and creative flavors. Some of the favorites include the crispy fried chicken tacos with a spicy agave glaze and poblano ranch slaw, ahi tuna tacos with citrus ponzu and sesame accents, Korean BBQ tacos layered with kimchi and Fresno chili heat, and the unforgettable pastrami taco topped with fried egg, chipotle aioli, and queso panela. Each taco feels like its own adventure and the quality of the ingredients shines through in every bite.

The cocktail program is just as strong as the food. Mezcal and tequila take center stage, but the bar team gets playful with unexpected combinations. Drinks like the spicy mezcal ginger pineapple cocktail or a creative twist on the classic Paloma with sparkling rosé are balanced, refreshing, and a perfect match to the food.

A big part of what makes the place so special is the team. Don is truly the host with the most, making everyone feel welcome the moment they arrive. And do not mistake the person running around helping with tables for a busboy. That is Chef Domingo, who cares so much about the restaurant that when he is not in the kitchen he is out making sure every guest is taken care of.

Two Madre has the kind of food, service, and energy that makes it a standout in West Hollywood. Delicious tacos, excellent cocktails, and an atmosphere that never fails to deliver....

Filthy workers leaving hair in the tacos this deserves negative 5 stars honestly I witnessed the previous person leave a long letter complaint about a hair being in the taco and we were hoping that we wouldn’t get the same experience but we unfortunately did in 1 taco out of 5 and to make the the experience even worse my friend accidentally left her purse inside and she got 100$ bill jacked from the worker because we had to go get it the next day since we live out of the area and it was about to close already and the purse had a iPhone in it too n a bit more money but the only thing that was stolen was the 100$ bill and when we asked she was being really shady saying that she wasn’t even going to be working the day we went to get it back and she was working and claimed that none of the cameras were working for surveillance so as far as I know that is against restaurant policy the cameras are supposed to be working for situation like this and when we asked for a bigger person to talk to about the situation because it was clear that something fishy was going on she gave us a wrong number that is just associated with the person we needed to talk to and even then when we finally got ahold of them they refused to return it in cash and offered a 100$ gift card to their other location with a bar and we refused and they claimed that they would mail it out and nothing has ever showed up because they refused to cash app it or zelle, paypal, even a bank wire really dissatisfied with the whole situation!!!! This is all a COMPLETE HONEST review too no puns intended… all this stuff was done throughout the 4th of...

I enjoyed my last experience here, which is why I decided to come back yesterday. Unfortunately, this visit was the complete opposite.

We walked in around 6pm and waited about 15 minutes for a table, even though the restaurant only had three tables filled. The host was pleasant, but once she began serving, things quickly went downhill. I ordered the same items as last time, but the food was completely off—the flavor was nothing like before and honestly not good. To make matters worse, there were flies everywhere. My friend and I spent the whole meal swatting them away, which was both annoying and unsanitary. At this point, investing in citronella candles or something to keep bugs away would make a huge difference.

Service was equally frustrating. Our food arrived, and halfway through eating I realized we still didn’t have our drinks. Other tables that were seated after us received theirs before we did. Once we were finished, I had to wait about 20 minutes just to get a to-go container and the check. Meanwhile, our dirty plates were never cleared, even though the restaurant wasn’t busy.

The entire experience was horrific. We spent $96 and left angry and disappointed. I ended up giving the food to a homeless person so it wouldn’t go to waste. The manager did stop by to ask if everything was okay, but with so many staff standing around and other guests nearby, I didn’t feel comfortable explaining everything—I just wanted to leave.

Honestly, this was such a waste of money and time. Messed-up food orders, delayed drinks, poor service, and flies all over the place—it was gross. I won’t be...

We loved Tu Madre. We had reservations, but we made them incorrectly for the Santa Monica location instead of West Hollywood. They were able to assist us and seated us without much delay. The manager also took care of the Santa Monica reservation so they wouldn't charge us a no-show fee. We ordered a quesadilla appetizer for 2 of the kids to share, and a potato taquito appetizer for another. The 4 potato taquitos were actually 2 halves of a baked potato rolled in a tortilla and fried until crispy. It came with a delicious mild-medium spicy sauce. We also ordered tortilla chips and guacamole and a bowl of street corn with butter and elote seasoning. The corn was sweet and out of this world! I had a cauliflower rajas burrito with poblanos, corn, onion, crispy cheese, salsa roja, turmeric brown rice, mozzarella cheese, poblano ranch slaw in a spinach tortilla. It's also available in a flour tortilla. The menu called it a "Veggie-centric satisfaction that brings the heat and the sweet". The cauliflower was perfectly al dente and not mushy. I loved it and highly recommend it. My wife had the vegan banh mi bowl, described as 36-hour marinated tofu, crispy kale, pickled carrot, avocado, crispy onion, house ponzu 'Vegan Vietnamese-fusion that brings the crunch". She loved it. I don't think you can go wrong with anything you order at Tu Madre. I highly recommend it.
