I didn't have a good experience shopping at Smith & Edwards on my most recent shopping trip there was some clown in there I don't know what his name was but he was very unprofessional and he accused a friend of mine of shoplifting, she was not shoplifting. He then asked another female to search my friend's pockets which she did in the presence of this clown and there was no merchandise in there. After I had been shopping for approximately 2 hours this June comes up to me and he asked me do you know that you've been shopping for over 2 hours and I said yes I'm trying to get some Christmas shopping done do you have a problem with that and he said no he didn't but he had a problem with the woman that I was shopping with she was putting things in her pocket and she was not even in the store and I asked him about it and I told him that she had a brush in her pocket that she bought at the dollar store and here was a piece of cellophane that was on it this guy apparently rather than doing his job as a clerk to help the customers he's out there to try to sabotage people and not give them the shop and Smith and Edwards I believe he's a retail clerk and he's not a loss prevention official. I feel like this guy just likes to try to harass the customers so they won't come back and stop at Smith and Edwards and I spend a lot of money at Smith and Edwards over the last few years thousands of dollars and this jerk just harassing you trying to intimidate the customer so they won't come back there to shop at Smith and Edwards and this is just absolutely unacceptable during the time that he was secretly spying on me for approximately the two-hour period previously I didn't ever see him helping anybody he didn't give me any help all I seen him doing was trying to secretly spy on me insinuating that I was in the shop lifting the Smith and Edwards which is absolutely this guy is he's a very poorly trained or he's trying to get Smith and Edwards sued and himself sued for defamation of character and making false accusations against the customers and he's not treating the customers with any dignity respect or consideration and he's quite quite ridiculouslyI take offense to this type of person even working at Smith and Edwards and I don't know if I'll take my business back there because I don't want to have to deal with this kind of a person and if management doesn't do something about this complaint I'll make sure I elevate it very well very well John my friend was withheld from leaving the store when this person that was here to him is Mr x full of female employee to search my friend's pockets for merchandise he believed he had shoplifted no such merchandise was found. This was done in front of several other customers making it public and it's very embarrassing that a customer would have to go through this absolute mistreatment beeing falsely accused of shoplifting in front of several other customers who observe this accusation which was not true and was totally false my friend was humiliated and embarrassed find the salt accusations that she had shop lifted, can only be viewed as a ridiculous and very malicious bad faith effort on the part of that is a very poorly that he's either very poorly trained or simply does not possess any good customer service skills Mr ex is a clerk at Smith & Edwards company he is not a revenue protection official his duties are to help customers find items that they are looking for to purchase but he's taking it upon himself to harass and otherwise embarrassed customers that he has singled out and and profiled at shoplifters without any proof whatsoever and he has deliberately taken it upon himself to make salt shoplifting accusations knowing full well that these accusations are false and trumped up accusations without any proof making false accusations against the customer is a serious offense on the part of Mr x has Smith & Edwards company and create the liability on the part of Mr x and Smith And Edwards for defimation of my friends character by intentionally deliberately making false...
Read moreIt's hard to describe what Smith & Edwards is. At least from my opinion, it's a great hardware, farm and Western store with an interesting mix of other items. While this isn't their main store, their West Jordan location is handy for those in Salt Lake County who have a ranch or a farm...as believe it or not, if you're out around West Jordan, Kearns, etc., there's some small farms in the area so this store is a great resource. This is great place to find some good quality work wear as this was my go-to for buying Carhart and Ariat work pants; a little pricey but it's the brand and not the store in that case. Also a great place to pick up your tack, boots, etc. for your small farm as well as camping and outdoor supplies. As this is Utah, Smith & Edwards also carries a good deal of items related to foodways including food preservation and canning items, seasonings, and even Traeger grills. And since this is Utah they also carry survival supplies (humorously called the "Zombie Apocalypse" section) including emergency food rations. And you might never know what else they have as they actually have a decent section of toys and puzzles for the kids, random knick-knacks for the kitchen and home and even some craft soft drinks. It was always a fun time going there and might be one of the things I miss about Utah. But if you're looking for an interesting store or need some gear for work, farming or outdoors activities, this is definitely a good store for that...
Read moreUPDATE: The boot manager Brian H. Contacted me and was more than helpful in bringing this situation to a close. His customer service is excellent and actually brought light back to this store in my opinion. Smith and Edwards you guys are lucky to have a great manager like Brian. He not only earned my business back but also my family’s and friends. Thank you again Brian!!
Bought a pair of boots from them and tried breaking them in like normal. I noticed the right boot was still too tight on the top of my foot. I’ve owned several boots just like this style over the last 10 years never had a problem. I brought them back to exchange for a different pair thinking that it must be a one off defective pair. I was told there was nothing wrong with the boots and I wouldn’t get my money back and they could not exchange them either. They did offer to stretch them for me so I thought ok this is better than nothing. So tonight I pick them up and still the same issue with the right boot. I did not spend over $200 for a pair of boots to kill my right foot and at this point smith and Edwards you can keep the boots my loss your gain. However I recommend to folks wanting to buy boots from here in the future please be careful because customer service here isn’t they’re number one priority after they’ve...
