If you are interested in why I posted the photos with this review please read on. I have visited Village Baker in West Jordan Utah on many occasions. Tonight's visit will be the last. The State of Utah sent out an alert today to all residents about the massive spread of COVID throughout the state. The highest count to date. I learned why it is spreading by witnessing indignant care by this store’s manager. I waited for 30 minutes for my order, watching about 25 people come and go. During the entire wait I witnessed who I thought was the cook, preparing meals without wearing his mask. I also witnessed another employee on the food assembly station without a mask. After much patience I approached the gal at the register about my order. After some research she determined they had lost my order. About 5 minutes later they brought the order out. I then asked the gal If I could speak to the manager. When the manager came to the register It turns out he was the one preparing food that wasn't wearing a mask! In a very rude tone, he asked "Did you want to talk to me?". In shock, I asked if he was the manager. When he said yes, I replied "are you kidding? You're the manager and you are preparing my food without a mask?" He rudely turned away and said "I don't need to talk to you". I immediately let him know that I had taken his photo and he would likely see his face on the internet. Everyone might want to think twice about...
Read moreI LOVE Village Baker. I think it has become my favorite sandwich shop/bakery, and for one simple reason. The food is just way better than most other chains. It's that simple for me. Honestly the only reason I ever go elsewhere is convenience because I live in Riverton, and this was the closest to me until recently. (Yes, they now have a location in The District in South Jordan...you will be seeing my wife and I often I suspect!).
This location is actually a little hard to spot until you know that it's tucked away behind other things. But it's a great spot for lunch, especially if you're visiting Costco (#LifeHack)!
Sandwiches are great. I particularly love the Chicken Salad & Provolone, and the Turkey sandwich options are awesome too. They have great salads too, Mandarin Chicken and the Southwest Salad being my two favorites. They also have some pretty good Pizza's, that's often my wife's go to thing here. Oh, and cookies. They have great cookies and I have to just get one (fine, I'll be honest - it might be more sometimes)....NUM NUM NUM!
If I have one gripe, it's the way that all the soups change every day. I always want the Creamy Tomato but it's only on Thursdays if I remember correctly, and generally I visit on Saturday since there's not one close to where I work. Sure, means it's all made fresh each day, but oh how I would give you that 5th star if you make this one available on...
Read moreOrdered the chicken salad sandwich based on another review. The flavor was extremely bland and reminded me of pre-packaged sandwiches at an airport. Struggled to eat the whole thing due to the bland off-putting taste (and I only ordered a half sandwich!).
My boyfriend ordered a small baker's choice pizza which is a "supreme" or combination type pizza. His dough wasn't cooked on the bottom- almost like they forgot to fully bake it?
The garlic bread sticks were pretty good, though the side of sauce is served cold instead of warm.
Overall, not pleased. We are both huge eaters and could hardly finish anything we ordered. Strange this place has such high star ratings!
We also sat at a table for dine in and it looks like they aren't wiping down any tables in between guests. And two of the food preparation people were chatting while preparing food with their masks pulled down.
The person who took our order also seemed to not be knowledgeable of what was on the menu which was also a bit odd...
Dined in on August 14th. Hope this review is helpful! I'd recommend going somewhere else!
Of note: we did say something to the manager about the pizza (as it was a large expense and inedible) and he was SUPER kind about it and refunded us. We normally never report bad food and it made us nervous to do so. I'd say that's the one good thing about the place was the manager was super kind...
