I will say I am not a connoisseur of Mexican food. I love Mexican food and have eaten it all over the country and even in Mexico. I have also been privileged to eat in a few home kitchens of talented Mexican cooks, so take this review for its worth to you. I wasn't planning on leaving a review at first, so sorry for the already enjoyed dishes pictured.
Food: I have been to the food truck once, and it was good. I saw they had a storefront and my wife was in the mood for some birria tacos. Our usual place is a little far away and often has a wait so we took a chance and gave Tacos Los Angeles a shot. The tacos were delicious. My wife does not care for onions, I love onions, we ordered one plate with onions and one without. We were surprised that not only did the tacos on her plate, come without onions, but also the consumé. A detail my wife appreciated. Tacos were fresh, cheesy, and flavorful. They were not overly soggy.
We both ordered the agua fresca. Unfortunately, they were down to only one cup left, so we shared. The serving was more than ample for both of us as it was served in a 32oz cup. The flavor of the day was orange pineapple. Some of the best we've had, probably the highlight of our visit.
Chips and salsas were great. We also ordered the churro cheesecake to go, which was also tasty.
Service & Atmosphere: Service expectations I personally feel is dependant on the type of restaurant you are going to. This was clearly a family run restaurant, perhaps of varying generations. I personally found the informal nature of the service endearing and appropriate. There was evident pride of ownership with homemade Easter decor at each table. One of the owners/ managers was sitting at a table next to us doing work and would occasionally engage in conversation.
Overall: If you are looking for good food, friendly service, and supporting a local family run business, I think you'll have a great experience. If you are looking for the answer to all your hopes and desires of Mexican cuisine in this establishment you might be left wanting, but I don't feel that is this...

I learned about them when their advertisements showed up in my Instagram feed a while back. They were so funny and unique. My friends and I are always looking for good places to try out and we were all looking forward to trying Tacos Los Angeles. What really got my attention was that they have pozole, which I love.
The atmosphere is so fun. You can tell that a lot of thought and care went into the decor. Margaret was the lovely lady that greeted us when we came in and she was also our server for the meal. She was so friendly and helpful.
We were served a basket of tortilla chips and FOUR different salsas. Sadly, I am a pigmently challenged suburban lady of very Northwestern European decent, and I couldn't handle the two spicier ones. However the one that came in the chip basket and the tomatillo one were great. I especially loved the tomatillo one, it was addicting. Our table almost emptied the bottle that was brought to our table.
I ordered the pozole and a horchata. I did not expect the horchata to be as large as it was, but you better believe I drank the whole thing. I really liked that it wasn't over sweet. The pork pozole was sooo good! I actually found a couple of bones in it. I have absolutely zero complaints about finding them. It shows that it is definitely a house made pozole that had been simmering for hours and just building flavor and getting the pork so fall apart tender.
The whole group enjoyed our meal and we had a wonderful time. I'm planning on bringing my husband and daughter because they definitely need to try it. My daughter is especially fond of spicy foods so I'm certain she will devour those spicier salsas!
Definitely give Tacos Los Angeles a try. I'm already looking forward to...
Read moreTried out Tacos Los Angeles after seeing a Redditor recommend them (the Redditor went to their food truck) for the best quesabirria in the area. I canât necessarily agree with, âthe best,â but they were pretty good. Great birria meat, super tender and hardly any fat at all, just wished there was more of it; kinda got overshadowed by the abundance of cheese on the bottom, which resulted in a gummy texture I wasnât quite expecting. A lot of quesabirria Iâve had in the past has the cheese melted on the outside of the tortillas, which I tend to prefer for textural purposes. The consume was also tasty, very flavorful. Tortillas were fresh and not overly greasy. Decent amount of onions and cilantro. Altogether Iâd give the quesabirria a 7 out of 10.
For my salsa lovers: The salsa verde is very very mild but has delicious flavorâ the tomatillo really shines. The salsa roja will knock your socks off (as it should), but leaves a bit to be desired on the flavor side. I donât mind melting my face off for a great salsa, but the flavor payoff just wasnât there for me to keep going back for more.
Customer service was fast, but felt mostly transactional; no friendly conversation or small talk, which is honestly fine, particularly with a small to-go order. Itâs just a different vibe from most Mexican restaurants and food trucks I frequent, no biggie. Definitely bring cash if you can, as it is strongly preferred.
While Iâm still on the hunt for my version of the perfect quesabirria here in Utah, Iâd definitely return to Tacos Los Angeles to try other dishes and get a quick lunch or...
