I went to see Snow White this weekend, and the most convenient showtime was at the IMAX theater. First, I knew I was going to pay a premium, and it really wasn't that bad. Second, having never been to this IMAX theater before, being asked to choose my seat was not as simple as selecting my usual seating area. We sat about two rows up in the upper tier (row H, for those in the know). Unfortunately this was too close for the width of the screen. In the future I would want to sit much further back-like in the top third of the upper tier. I think I would have gotten more from seeing more of the screen at a glance. Third, oh the commercials! The same ones repeated every five minutes or so, especially from local advertisers. Not many trivia games and things to spawn a conversation. I usually enjoy the upcoming movie trailers, but they started at the scheduled showtime and didn't end for 20 minutes. And finally, and probably the thing which was least enjoyable, was the LOUD VOLUME of everything which was shown on the screen. Perhaps if the seats had been filled, there might have been more soft stuff to absorb the sound, but it was Saturday afternoon and so there were about 30 people in the theater. Fortunately they have really good speakers, so there wasn't any distortion (except for a few high notes which just overwhelmed my ears). But it was just too loud for the space as it was. Uncomfortably so. My wife's hearing aid was buzzing in her ear such that she turned it off (but left it in to act as a bit of an earplug). Come on, AMC, this wasn't a rock show, it was a Disney movie. If I hadn't enjoyed the actual movie so much, I would have walked out...
Read moreI recently went to see the new Tron movie in IMAX, and while I was excited to experience it on the big screen, the overall theater experience didn’t quite live up to expectations. The audio was definitely a highlight crisp, immersive, and powerful. The soundtrack and effects really pulled me into the digital world that Tron is known for. However, the visual quality surprisingly fell short, especially for an IMAX showing. The graphics felt underwhelming, lacking the sharpness and polish I was expecting from a high-budget sci-fi release. I’m not sure if this was due to the theater’s equipment or the film itself, but it was a letdown. Despite these issues, I plan to watch the movie again at a different theater to see if a better setup does the film justice. I still think there's potential for Tron to shine, especially with the audio already delivering a...
Read moreMe an my wife have never been to a imax movie till last night. First off we thought all the movies playing where imax movies?! Nope only one movie was played in imax..😕 And just so happens it was not the movie we had planned on seeing either! So anyways we sit down to enjoy our movie. And in about 25% through the movie it starts getting yellow all the way down the middle of the screen halfway! They came and stopped the movie for a couple minutes fix the problem and restarted it! It’s just aggravating going to a movie theater expecting to see it in IMAX! And then it stopping a quarter through the movie! Not only that but the movie theater looks like it hasn’t been vacuumed in a couple years! I don’t know if me and my wife or my kid will be back to this movie theater stinks they only have one IMAX...
