Your Pie, 225 Palm Bay Road NE, Palm Bay FL. 32904 2.5 Stars (Chain Restaurant Review)
This location of a relatively new on-the-scene rapidly expanding chain in Hammock Landing is what I refer to as "fake" Palm Bay. The Landing is a testament to open-air shopping and a sign of the rapid destruction of '80s mall life, c'est la vie. I always feel like I'm in some Fellini movie when I come here and half expect a purple unicorn to prance by symbolizing forgotten dreams of youth.
Your Pie is a franchise that began in Athens, Georgia in 2008 after the founder, Drew French returned from his honeymoon in Italy inspired by the brick oven pizza places that dot the countryside. With over one hundred locations from the Carolinas to Montana, they are sure to be near you soon. The franchise I visited is owned by Bismash Patel. Bismash can be seen daily literally busting his behind in support of his staff. If the Big Boy rated solely on service and service alone, this place would be 5 stars all the way, just based on Bismash's work ethic and professionalism. However, that is not the case here at BBDO where we are only concerned with the food for sale.
To that end, I placed an order for one Chicken Pesto Pizza and a Pasta Bowl. Taking a seat, I eagerly turned my gaze toward the open kitchen and watched them concoct my order. I love watching people make pizza dough and knowing this was going to be fresh had my mouth watering in anticipation. It wasn't all that long before my order was in front of me and my nostrils were filled with delicious aromas wafting up from the still-steaming grub. As the dough is paramount to a fantastic pizza, I will begin my review there. Taking a bite I was unpleasantly surprised. I watched them toss it and bake it, but it has the taste of a frozen pizza. In other words, it was far below average and to top it off (pun intended) the chicken was either freezer-burned, overcooked or just poor quality as it had the consistency of a red gym ball from the 70s. At this point, it was all I could do not to absquatulate, but I had a job to do so I remained seating and moved on to the Pasta Bowl.
While I didn't have a problem with the Pasta Bowl as the pasta was cooked to a perfect al dente, again the flavorings were nothing spectacular and were found to be about par for the course. After watching them make everything, I have to say the end result just doesn't cut it. I have no doubt at all that Bismash could make any place better, perhaps he is better suited to the role of efficiency consultant as he seems to be able to make any place run like a well-oiled machine, even one with below-average offerings. The Big Boy says, "There are better build your own, watch them bake it in a brick oven pizza places. In fact, they are becoming a dime a dozen. Try one of those and skip this place until Bismash can rectify the quality of ingredients sent to him...
Read moreI had never been here before, but someone had bought me a pizza with regular crust & marinara during the holidays, so I thought I knew what to expect. I went to see if they had a KETO Crust option, as they did not offer this during the holidays. They do now (or at least that's what they are advertising). So that got me excited since the Pizza @ location in the same plaza had closed down and they in my opinion were the best. I stood at the front of their ordering line alone for a good 2-3 minutes while the girl working behind the glass in front of me never even acknowledged my existence. I decided to walk over to the register and the young man looked up. I told him I had never been here before, so didn't know how it worked. He told me I had to start where I had been standing before. I told him that I had already started there , but the girl didn't acknowledge me at all...
He took my order. I started w/ Cauli Crust, which he did inform me would be an up charge of $5.00. Seems a bit high, but I had already tried a pizza from here, so I thought it would be good. I asked him if they had ingredients for the crust and he had no idea (So if it's true KETO... I guess we'll have to take their word for it...) He brought the crust from the back. I typically get white sauce, which should be ricotta or Alfredo at most places. This "Alfredo" (what he called it) looked like pudding/paste. Super thick and when it was all said and done had zero flavor. My toppings were sausage & mushroom. Thank God I added garlic, as it was literally the ONLY flavor on this pizza. He went as sparing as possible on the toppings & when my pizza was done it looked super skimpy. I paid for this $14 pizza to go asked the young man how long it would take to cook. His response was 3 minutes because "the cauliflower crust is more fragile than a regular crust". No biggie, I waited the 3 min. When I finally got to my office to eat it I was so disappointed. First, I order this exact pizza w/ the cauliflower crust at other places and have never paid more than $10. And Second, the cauliflower crust just falls apart here, the sauce is flavorless and there are like zero topping on your pizza to offer flavor. The crust falling apart/ crumbling when there were no toppings on it was the final straw for me since I just paid $14 for a 8 or 9 inch pizza. ...
Read moreI went in yesterday to check this place out. It was my first time. There was very little guidance to how it worked, I felt a bit lost and I didn't see a menu where you're supposed to order, yet I saw one where you check out. Knowing what I wanted anyway, I placed my order. I like that you can see the ingredients (think Subway for pizza). Some are fresh (some herbs), some are jarred (garlic for instance). The pizza essentially comes in 1 size except for the kids meal. I paid for a meal with a brownie for dessert (it was valentines day!) Took my table number and sat down. The pizza was out to me within I'd say 8 minutes or so. Reasonably fast considering it was raw dough. It was good. I didn't have marinara sauce, rather I had a custom (not their "great white" option) white pizza. It was good. Meaning, I've had better, but I would definitely eat it again. The brownie however was very dry. I actually threw it away after 2 bites. And I would have gotten a side salad, but they were pre-made. Which disappointed me. Why not do what you do with the pizza and have customers custom make their salad too! More money in that option. I know my family would be all about it. The kids can have pizza and the adults have the option of a nice salad. But alas, the salads are small side salads in a plastic cup similar to what you'd see at a gas station, maybe not that scary to eat, but you get the point. The employees were all friendly, especially the girl at the checkout. All in all, I would go here again. I'll try a "standard" pizza next time to try out...
