Firehouse Subs (Chain Restaurant)-225 Palm Bay Rd NE Unit 184, West Melbourne, FL 32904
3 Stars
Firehouse Subs is based in Jacksonville, Florida. It was founded in 1994 by brothers (and former firefighters) Chris and Robin Sorensen. The American based restaurant chain boasts over 1,200 locations in 46 states, with additional locations in Puerto Rico and Canada. Florida houses the majority of these with 179 locales.
Itâs a rarity when I have an opportunity to conduct a second review for the same restaurant, or in this instance, the same chain. Toward that end, the West Melbourne location (in Hammock Landing) presented just such an occasion. Itâs also worthy of note that my previous rating was made, when service was given more weight in the process, in a time when service mattered. However, as the metric has now changed, wherein presently, my score is largely determined based upon the quality of the food, so too has my review, and itâs certainly for the better.
Allow me to digress for a moment, however. I simply must mention that Julian, the counter help, did an outstanding job. Since several additional restaurants were on the itinerary, I restricted my order to two, four-inch subs: a steak and cheese, and a Jamaican jerk turkey. Are these two anything special? No. Are either likely to garner a culinary award, or win a prize for prettiest bellibone? No. However, if I were staring down a Jersey Mikeâs, a Subway, or a Firehouse, Iâd happily choose the latter.

Read moreSo far Iâve come to Firehouse three times, and the subs are always amazing. However, the last two times Iâve come in to order, I feel extremely uncomfortable. It started on the second time I went to get a sub. I ordered the same thing as always (veggie sub with wheat bread), the sub had cheese on it, and since I cannot eat cheese I went back to ask for a new one. I was unaware that the sub had cheese on it , because when a cashier was listing the ingredients for me she didnât include cheese. That wasnât a problem at all, the problem was when I explained my situation to an employee, they proceeded to laugh while on the back line. This continued throughout the making of my sub. Whatâs so funny? I decided to brush it off, because it was silly on my part. I just went again today, for the third time. Immediately as I walk in the same employee( a line cook with glasses, and a firehouse hat on) made a smart remark to the rest of the line. The line, him included, started to laughâŚmaking me uncomfortable once again. I look at him to let him know I noticed, and he just turned away. Again, while making my sandwich they are continuing to laugh and make remarks. I donât plan on coming back to this establishment, as I always...
Read moreI'm a Bite Squad driver. I had an order to pick up here that said pick up by 6:45. So I got there at 6:45 and went in and the cashier said it'll be a couple minutes, no problem. So I waited, and waited, and waited. It's now past 7 so I asked for an update and the lady just said "It's not ready yet" and walked away. I'm sitting there watching customers who ordered 15 minutes after I got there getting their food and I'm just sitting there meanwhile Bite Squad is calling me asking if all is good. The cashiers and sandwich makers are just laughing and joking around while I've been in there now over half an hour, by the way this order was only 2 regular subs, not catering for an army. They're not backed up either... they're making the orders for everyone who comes in immediately but not making my Bite Squad order. It wasn't until 7:20 when they finally had the order ready when it said 6:45...
