TLDR: Boscovs is struggling. Their cashiers are nasty to people who come to the store within an hour of close. In addition, they are NOT accommodating if you need a restroom. There’s one open in the two level store. If you have incontinence or any issue where you may need a restroom stat, shop somewhere else. This is all very disheartening.
Review: Terrible customer service from our cashier, 06/27 at 8:50pm. Three of us came in to the store, to shop for a dress for me, at around 8:10. This cashier made MULTIPLE remarks at checkout about us coming into the store “right before close”, chastising us for being inconsiderate. Just wanted you to know what our life has looked like lately. We have a funeral to attend tomorrow after 2 months of intensive care through the end of life and ultimately hospice process. I have not had time to get the last of my things, and thought Boscovs would be a good move since they’re a family owned business. Usually, this would have been the right choice.
It was unfortunately not the right move. I tried on about 10 things, only 1 fit. I have a hard time since I’m plus size-that is normal. My mom proceeded to checkout with my singular item, 5-8 minutes before close. This cashier started being nasty to her from word go. I was in shock for a second. The 3rd time she made a rude comment about us being there “so late”, this time NOT under her breath, I was upset. I started paying attention to how she was treating my mom. At the end of the transaction my mom said, “thank you, have a good evening miss” because she has a friggin heart of gold even thought this lady treated her like crap the whole transaction. This lady’s response? To look my mom dead in the face, nod, turn around and ignore her. My mom even tried to say goodbye with no response.
I had a tic at this point, because of how angry and upset I was. I have Tourette Syndrome, a movement disorder, and do have coprolalia diagnosed by a neuro. My tic was to flip her off. I don’t know if she saw or not. We had to leave because my tics were getting so severe. I proceeded to have a tic “attack” for an hour after leaving because of the anxiety caused by this lady.
So… 0/5 on the customer service front. 0/5 on the special circumstance front.
In addition, they have no bathrooms on the first floor. I was told they may be out of order. The ones on the second floor require a significant amount of walking to reach them. I was told there’s an elevator, but that it is spotty in function. I have issues with incontinence, and was appalled at how hard it was to access a restroom. If you have sudden, urgent needs for a restroom, I do not recommend shopping here. It puts you at real risk of having an accident. Also, if you are in a wheelchair please be aware the aisles between the clothes are not all ADA standard. I noticed a few places in the store where wheelchairs would not fit through.
So 0/5 on the accommodating disabilities front too.
Final thoughts : This store is not disability friendly. The staff need to be retrained on customer service skills. The store also has 2 broken escalators which need to be fixed, which have been that way for months if not years now. If there are bathrooms downstairs, they are closed which causes a problem for mobility-challenged, incontinent customers. I am very, very sad to report all this. I have fond memories of getting candy at the candy counter. This store used to be my highlight of every visit to the mall. Things seems to be going a...
Read moreThe longer I was there the quicker I wanted to put all my stuff down and leave. You can tell just as a shopper that management makes it miserable to work there. While I was shopping, what I'm assuming was a manager, made an announcement telling the workers breaks were over and to get back on the sales floor to restock. There were maybe two workers running around stressed trying to put things back to where they were supposed to be. Because they had workers running around 2 fitting rooms were closed and the others there were lines for. I hate shopping in stores anyway, and having to wait to look at some of the racks because the workers were all there straightening up was kind of annoying. At one point I tried to check out at an empty sales desk and waited 5 minutes for the worker to come back to their sales desk before I gave up and waited in line at another sales desk. They were in the aisles putting stuff back from the dressing rooms and reorganizing. So I feel like all this took away significantly from trying to shop. Besides that, the prices all went up, I had a $30 day dress in my hand, and a few blouses, went and checked the prices and I don't understand how no name brand blouses were more expensive than the nice day dress when everything was 40%-60% off. I definitely do not blame the workers, I blame management and corporate for pushing the team members to be so focused on the floor and not allowing the customers to...
