My five stars are for a supervisor that I recently had the pleasure of dealing with, her name is Lasandra. I first dealt with a young lady that I have spoken with on a few occasions when needing to return items and she is extremely unpleasant. I don't know her name, but I will look for it the next time I am at Wegmans. I do not visit Wegmans frequently- she is so unfriendly and definitely should not work at customer service due to her way of speaking with customers and her overall demeanor. I came in, to return items and did not have my receipt. I was told that the items could not be returned due to not having the receipt, therefore, I asked to speak with a supervisor. This issue has happened more than once, due to me not having a receipt, and the supervisors that I have dealt with, up to this point, have not been friendly, however, have taken back my items and given me store credit, after much resistance on their part. I stated that I was going to grab my replacement for the items that I was returning, when I returned to customer service, Lasandra, was there waiting for me. She explained, that the items that I wanted to return needed a receipt. I told her it was the first time that I was returning this particular item and I was unaware of this policy; would she kindly make an exception because due to the amount that the items cost, I could not afford for this to be a learning experience, I needed to make an exchange. I also informed her about a few other things and explained that I am extremely terrible with holding on to my receipts. She asked me when I purchased the items and we discussed a few things. Part of the things that we discussed was that it would be a good idea for me to have the Wegmans app, especially since I am bad with holding on to receipts, this way, items purchased from here on forward, would be easily found via the app. I was unable to finalize the Wegmans app onto my phone - I have an Android, it is very hard to receive a passcode and then go into the previous page which you were in, because the previous page that wants the code, resets itself. I tried different ways to make this work and Lasandra was extremely empathetic, patient, compassionate, professional, and she tried to help me with code which was needed to finalize the Wegmans app but she was unsuccessful, as well. I said that I probably need a computer in order to get the code from my email page, while having the Wegmans page open that needed the code, on my cell phone. Lasandra said that she would assist to me with the return, but in the future, I needed my receipt or the Wegmans app which would show each transaction. Lasandra reminded me when making a purchase,to enter my phone number so that the transaction will show on the Wegmans app and there would be no need for a receipt. I asked her if she would speak with the cashiers and have them ask the customers to enter their phone numbers because if I am not asked, I usually won't think of entering it, not only at Wegmans but anywhere - I need to be reminded. I told Lasandra that I was so appreciative of the way that she treated me, her assistance with this issue, and her professionalism. Due to the type of supervisor/person that she is and the extent of her assistance, I would call corporate to let them know about this issue and how she was towards me. The corporate office that this Wegmans is a part of, is located in New York, not the one in Pennsylvania. The woman that I spoke with, at the New York corporate office, Marie, said that she met Lasandra once or twice, and the words that I used to describe Lasandra, are spot on -she agreed as well. In addition, I stated that Wegmans is very lucky to have such a wonderful person, representing Wegmans, working for this company, and I hope that she is recognised for this specific incident. I was told that she, Marie, would let the appropriate person know about my experience and the call. Thank you, so much, Lasandra, for your professionalism, your patience, and compassion - for the person...
Read moreMy first visit to Wegmans in Princeton, New Jersey left me questioning nearly everything I thought I knew about grocery shopping and, frankly, civilization. The adventure began in the car park, which can only be described as chaotic neutral. Vehicles moved in every possible direction at once, their drivers seemingly guided not by lanes or logic but by pure instinct. At one point, I found myself circling for so long I half expected to need refueling before even entering the store. In Somerset, we park on quiet cobblestone streets beside a modest green grocer. Here, it felt more like preparing for a military campaign. Upon finally entering, I stood frozen for a moment, struck dumb by the sheer scale of the place. It is not a grocery store, it is a cathedral to consumer choice. There are entire aisles dedicated to yogurt. Rows upon rows of bread, each claiming to be the most “artisanal.” A cheese section so vast it appeared to have its own weather system. I even discovered an olive bar, which feels like something the Roman Empire might have built just before collapsing. The prepared foods section was particularly astonishing, sushi, pizza, roast chickens, even a café serving lattes and pastries. At one point, I began to worry I might never find the exit and would instead spend the remainder of my exile wandering among the gluten-free muffins, slowly losing my grip on time. And yet, despite the overwhelming abundance, it’s rather wonderful. The staff are cheerful, the produce gleams as though polished, and there is a sense of optimism in every aisle, as if the American dream itself has been refrigerated for freshness. In the end, I emerged victorious, clutching a reusable bag filled with groceries and existential questions. Wegmans is vast, overwhelming, and entirely absurd but I must confess, I...
Read moreVery surprised that this location has so many positive reviews. Definitely the worst Wegmans I’ve ever been to on almost every front.
The biggest deal to me is that the produce section is the worst of all of the local grocery stores, including the average Shop Rites around which is pretty shocking for a place that can be so much better than that. Literally every single time I go, it’s filled with tons of rotting produce. I don't even really try anymore after so many times finding disgusting conditions in the department. Like a whole display of raspberries that are so moldy you can see the mold from a distance; the chunks of it are so huge. Why would a display be left like that? They really need to pay people more to take care of their produce department because ewwwww.
Then there're the times where they just don't even have super common things like romaine lettuce or grape tomatos. They also have hardly any organic produce which is part of why I'd even go to an allegedly "nicer" grocery store in the first place. The small section is also regularly just empty too.
There are some positives which is that the employees are really nice and the wine and liquor store is very good. The meat section is also always impeccapable. But the rest of the store pales in comparison to literally every wegmans, from the fewer overall items in the store, the layout, to the beauty department and natural health department which are radically smaller than any other Wegmans I've been to. None of these choices make sense to me.
Edit: Have been back again to find them with zero organic Broccoli, and zero organic Zucchini. But they did have some very gross looking non organic, pictured. Why is this produce department so bad? Please pay people well to care for your produce department Wegmans, you...
