So I think this is a generous rating based on the weird experience.
Honestly, the food here is awesome, but we had a strange experience.
I’ve never been somewhere in America where you ask for water and they bring you Fiji Water and say that’s all they have and we ask for tap, they say have no tap. So I grab my water bottle and then they water shame me saying they don’t allow outside drinks and are trying to make money but I honestly don’t want a tiny $4 Fiji Water. Literally never be up sold or bait and switched on water, ever. And the best was, later in the meal, we were offered tap water. And I sat there starting at the wall with all the glasses on it wondering what those were for.
Like literally made us feel bad for not wanting $4 water that we didn’t order which is both absurd and hilarious.
If it were just that, as weird as that was, whatever.
I literally had to yell into the kitchen to have someone wait on us each time and were never asked how things were.
Then I get the bill and it’s 30% more than the menu they handed me, literally 30%. Asked about it and was told that’s our lunch menu. Well why didn’t you give me your dinner menu? Well we don’t have any. Well, that sounds to me like that’s your menu then, unless you disclose otherwise.
I’ve never felt scammed at a restaurant and it wasn’t even a lot of money but it was the principle of it all was so absurd. I get rising costs and all that but don’t tell me after the meal oh those prices aren’t right. That’s like a very American principle.
I really hope you all do better for others. If you can upsell water and update your website clearly you can print updated menus. Perhaps you just use a QR code. Just really weird experience all around.
PS - We were the only ones in the entire restaurant. It literally seems made for takeout only. The kitchen may not have a fan or is vented into the dining room, so if you’re into that sort of thing.
But again, food...
Read moreFood is good. Nothing special. I will say the OTHER Thai place in Westport is far better and entirely more friendly. The manager here is absolutely rude. On multiple occasions I noticed this in different circumstances. I've been there 3 times and on the last occasion I ordered a Thai iced tea with no ice added because I had some driving to do (I didn't want it to become diluted) and when I was given the drink the cup wasn't even filled half way!! Confused, I didn't even know how to point out the problem. I opened the lid and showed the woman who was ringing me out..Mind you I had not left yet so they knew I had not drank from the cup yet. The woman got the manager and I showed her the cup and said that "I'm sorry but this is barely filled at all can you please add to it?" with a huff and a puff and some MAJOR attitude the woman said " You said no ice !" confused as to what that had to do with barely getting any liquid in the cup I said " Yes I did but that doesn't explain why there is only this much tea in the cup?" She was so rude to me over it and stomped to the back to add more..Mind you she never ended up filling it up like any Thai place I've ever been has. It just doesn't make any sense why they wouldn't fill the cup regardless when you're paying $3+ for a tea! It's a shame because the food was good but I refused to go back because of the managers attitude and rudeness all around. Never experienced this in my life at any restaurant..It was honestly a bit laughable. When you order a drink you expect to get a full amount regardless...
Read moreFraud on billing experience by staff overshadowed tasty food. Beware of small frauds at this restaurant. Menu price was $7 less than we were billed. It seemed strange when I asked for a glass of water & the older woman gave me a higher-end Fiji water bottle, then a lower-priced bottle of water before the other staff member gave me the tap water in a glass I asked for each time. This supports what happened with the bill at the end of our lunch as I'm an internal auditor/Fraud Accountant by trade. The mango curry menu item was priced at $13.95 & pad se ewe at $11.95, but we were billed $16.95 & $14.95 respectively. When we noticed & asked about the difference, first they said we ordered off the dinner menu, not the lunch menu. There was only 1 menu, so that isn't possible. Then they said the menu price is different for dine-in at the outside table that we did, and the carry out price is the lower price listed on the menu we used. Then we saw an extra charge for tofu instead of chicken, but that's included per the menu text & photos as shown. Finally, they said there was an updated menu recently and we ordered/used the old one that was outside at the table we sat down at to order. Also not possible, since the only version of the menu was the one the had on out table & we used to order from. We still tipped 17%, but will contest this with the credit card company since the staff was unwilling to bill us correctly. Watch your bill if you...
