I was very pleased with my experience. The manager of the store was very quick to assist. She introduced herself as Terry. She explained that the other salesperson was busy and she didn't want us to wait for assistance.
I explained what I was looking for, which was a recliner. I currently have my Mother's La-Z-Boy which was purchased 50 years ago. The mechanism to raise and lower the chair still works like it was brand new.
I can not believe how well this chair held up. The chair looks new, except for two spots. The foot area because I always push myself up into the chair, when I raise the foot area. And one spot where I bring my foot up under my other leg with my sneaker on. I wore the fabric through.
I also applied for a synchrony bank credit card to pay the chair off in 6 months with no interest. It was very easy to do.
The chair was on sale. Originally $999.99, I was pleased with the $539.99 sales price. The delivery from the Trenton, NJ warehouse was $99.00, plus I choose to have them treat the fabric with the same protector that my Mom had put on her chair because I know how well it lasted for 50 years.
The total cost was $721.19. I put $21.19 down. I have 6 months to pay off the $700.00 balance with no interest.
I also enjoyed talking to Terry throughout the credit application process. We found out we both went to Whitehall HS. We graduated a year apart and shared some stories about the old days. The entire experience was VERY pleasant.
After the purchase I looked through the store. They were having a sale on ALL of their accessories. All of the items were marked down to $19.99. I bought one item that caught my eye. The original price was $89.99!
I am attaching a picture of my Mom's 50 year old La-Z-Boy recliner. The stuffing in the chair held up very well. The chair was never cleaned. As you can see, only a few wear spots.
I also have the accessory that I bought, my elephant on a very heavy lucite base, in the picture. Looks like La-Z-Boy gets the Elephant Award of EXCELLENCE đ
The icing on the cake, I bought the chair on Monday, my chair will be delivered this Thursday. Thank you Whitehall, PA - La-Z-Boy!
Since I'm 70, I'm sure that either one of my sons, my daughter, or one my four grandchildren will inherit my chair. In 50 years, once my chair has aged they will be looking to buy...
Read moreI've had La-Z-Boy recliners before and had no trouble. I bought a Casey recliner, which was delivered in November. Three weeks later, it broke and wouldn't recline. It was creaking since day one. In addition, it leans forward hitting the floor everytime you lean forward. The cushion is practically flat. I called for service and needed to wait a month and a half for someone to come out. At the end of January, the technician fixed the recliner to lock and stated it also needed a new cushion. The locking mechanism was put on incorrectly and new holes needed to be drilled in the chair. I feel like the chair is thrown together and I only had it for three weeks in semi- working condition!! On Feb 6, I received a large box with the cushion! Do they really think i know how to put this together? No call, no email was received. Am I going to wait another month and a half to get this fixed? I feel this chair should be returned and a new chair honored. Never have I been so dissatisfied with La-Z-Boy! I called on Feb. 8 to see what I was supposed to do with the cushion. I was told I needed to schedule another service call. A date of March 14 was initially given until I received a call back for Feb. 24 after I complained. Again, this chair has been broken since day 1! Any other business would replace a damaged item or give money back...not La-Z-Boy. I asked to speak to a manager and was told someone would get back to me in 24-48 hours. That did not happen. Today, Feb. 10, I called again. I called and was connected to Susie B at corporate headquarters who flat out said, "you will not get a new chair". When asked to be connected to a person above her (Kim) she would not connect me and said she can be reached only via email by her. I asked to have her contact me by Feb. 12 ( 48 hours). We'll see if...
Read moreWe had a terrible experience with our La-Z-Boy purchase. We ordered a sofa in March and was quoted that it would be ready in 4â7 months. We were notified that it would be delivered in July and made arrangements to be home for the delivery, we also paid the balance remaining. On the morning of the scheduled delivery we were notified that the sofa did not pass inspection and the store would contact us with more information. This is where it started to go down hill. The communication between the delivery center and store is terrible. We had to call the store a few times before we got answers. In August the store called us saying that the sofa was repaired and ready for delivery. We again arranged to be home and received a call the morning of delivery that it didnât pass inspection. Remember when I said the communication between the store and distribution center was terrible? The sofa was never fixed. Several more calls to the store to have them tell us the sofa REALLY was fixed and scheduled for delivery. Same thing happened. Several calls to the store. The manager assured me that the sofa NOW has been fixed and she was going to personally follow up with the distribution center. I had asked for my money back at this point but she reassured me it was ready. She scheduled the delivery. We arranged to be home for the 4th time, just in case you lost track. No sofa, again. At this point we took our money back and the manager simply said âSorry this didnât work out for you.â There was no service recovery. No sincere apology. 7 months wasted waiting for a sofa that never came.
Editing my review to add this- after we got our money back we went to Pottery Barn. We order furniture that was less expensive and delivered exactly...
