They watched 2 of my Brittanys one weekend in May. I wasnt crazy impressed with the check in process. I paid extra for them to be in a suite, I kind of expect a tour and to see where they are going to be staying and what I'm paying for. I'm not sure they followed my feeding instructions. I brought my own food, with specific instructions that they were only to be fed in the evening. I get there around noon to pick them up the next day and the lady said they ate most of their breakfast, I was a little confused since I had only brought enough food for the one evening meal for each of them, but before I could question it the girls wanted to be overly friendly so I just took them out to the car and assumed she had them mixed up with someone else. Well, for the next 2-3 days they both had digestive issues like they had been fed food they weren't used to, and my vet agreed with my conclusion when he looked them over. I paid for the older one to get a nail trim while she was there. The puppy (6 months at time of visit) smelled like pee when I got her in the car. I know she didnt smell when I dropped her off because I bathed her right before putting her in her crate in the car. I know I didnt pay for a check out bath for her, but if my puppy rolled in her own pee on your watch I kind of feel for sanitary purposes you should at least clean her up... The prices were higher than where we usually board, but it was last minute since my dog sitter bailed so it is what it is, and they were at least kind of on my way to my destination, but probably will seek other accommodations in the future.
UPDATE: they did call after my review to apologize for lack of tour and follow up on the miscommunication on the feeding situation. They also acknowledged that they should have noticed the puppy smelling like pee and offered a free bath. I live an hour away so not sure it will work out for me to redeem that, but I do appreciate that they acknowledged this mishap and offered a solution of sorts. So updating from 3 to 4 stars since they at least...
Read moreMy husband and I left town for 4.5 days to go to a wedding in Mississippi. My dog sitter fell through a couple of days before we were supposed to leave. Sydney’s was able to give us a tour right away and set up a reservation for boarding and daycare! I was so happy they could get her in, especially because I felt like we had called them at the last minute. I was SO nervous to leave our dog anywhere because she (our long haired chihuahua named Ophelia) had never been to any type of pet resort, boarding, or daycare before. She is a VERY friendly and loving dog but can be VERY shy when in unknown locations and around unfamiliar people (without her mom and dad around OR familiar family/friends). Sydney’s talked with us about our concerns and wrote down specific notes on Ophelia’s file/account. They answered ALL of my questions. Sydney’s eased my fears! They took absolutely great care of her while we were away and always had updates ready for us when we called! And trust me, sometimes I called multiple times a day!!! We absolutely LOVED getting text photo updates - I recommend getting them! Getting the photos of our dog outside, with other dogs, with the staff, and playing with toys was WONDERFUL! We also had her bathed/groomed while she was at Sydney’s. She came back smelling fantastic and feeling softer than ever. I could post about 15 other things about Sydney’s about the care they provided, but then this review would be very long! Just know that we are so very happy...
Read moreMy dogs stayed here for 10 days, from September 19th thru 29th; this was my first time taking them there.
They received “walk the blocks”-8$ per dog/ per day-very nice, as my dogs are accustomed to daily walks. We picked them up on a Sunday and noticed when we got home that they were very congested, wet breathing/wheezing, and a slight cough; they are both vaccinated.
I called them on Monday to inquire if they had reports of this with any other dog, and the girl who answered said she’d look at the list because they keep a running tally. She gets back on the phone and says “yes, there was a report of a dog that was sick after being there during the time your dogs were.” She made a special point to say “none of them were exhibiting any symptoms while there.”
I understand NOW, that a vaccine doesn’t prevent transmission/infection 100%. I’m not roasting them on a review for things that are truly a risk at any boarding facility. I am also conflicted on whether I feel they should reach out to people who had dogs there during a reported exposure—-I’m leaning towards YES THEY SHOULD, but again I don’t know if that’s just emotions talking because my dogs got sick, and now my senior dog who was not boarded is sick.
The people are nice, and the facility does appears/smells clean. It’s loud, VERY LOUD with lots of barking in the area with stacked kennels, where mine stayed. I’d suggest the more private suites for anyone considering this place...
