Patinaz — Local services in Williamsport

I had a few bad experiences here with staff over the years but let it go to support the local artists, buying quite a lot of gifts there and even pottery and jewelry for myself. (In one of those experiences, they would only allow a $50 gift certificate to be used at a $30 value which was very confusing. The better business bureau was notified about that….)…the tipping point for me to never return was when I witnessed an incredibly disturbing scenario where one of the owners accused a Black woman of stealing several items. I was in the store in the same section as that woman the entire time selecting pottery - she absolutely was shopping and had picked out several items to buy, while I did the same exact thing. The woman was frustrated by the accusation from the owner, and I immediately voiced that I believed the owner was mistaken, that the woman was certainly just shopping. While the woman shopping had said “thank you!” to me, the owner said “I can tell the people who try to steal” (I remember how poorly that had been phrased..). When the owner picked up her phone as if to call the police and asked the woman to empty her purse and prove it, the woman calmly placed her items down and said “if I’m not welcome here, that’s your loss” with her hands in the air and walked out.
