We’ve been on a road trip for a few days and were sick of fried fast food. We had a hard time settling on a food place since our kids wanted stir fried. My husband wanted curry and I wanted warm noodle soup. I grew up in a family food restaurant. This doesn’t mean much except my taste buds are super spoiled and tend to lean toward mom and pop shop more. After trying out, I can said with confidence that this place fits all of the criteria! We came a little after 12. Waited 20 mins and all food was served. Every dish was cooked to perfection. Fried tofu was perfectly cooked - hard on the outside and soft on the inside. Pad See Ew was so delicious. My daughter (super picky eater) ate half of it without my asking. My husband said the mango curry was 10/10! Before leaving, we also picked up Thai ice tea and a kiwi drink with popping strawberry. We finished it before leaving the block. It is so nice to see a little culture in the middle of Pennsylvania! Next time we pass through, we will definitely stop by and spend a little time to enjoy this cute...

Excellent food. We recommend the Drunken Noodles, Red Thai Curry, and both the Offshore and Onshore dishes, depending on whether you want the soup broth.

Good service. Doesn't take long for the food to come out, though we haven't been there when it's crowded. Relaxed atmosphere. Relatively quiet; so it's easy to have a conversation.

Doesn't have its own parking, but metered street parking (25 cents per half hour) usually is available, and there's a municipal lot just a half block away, but I think the parking rate's a bit higher there.

Just a short walk from the Genetti hotel.

September 2024 update: My original review was from 5 years ago.

We heard that the ownership changed hands a year or two ago, and that it might not be as good. Our latest visit proved that we had nothing to worry about. We are in town once or twice a year, and stop in here every time. The food was still wonderful. The green curry dish knocked my socks off. Much more flavorful than I'm able to find at Thai restaurants back home. The two other dishes we had were...

I was in Williamsport for a meeting and used Yelp to find something near and I hit the jackpot. I walked in at 11:40 just after they opened. The place seemed clean and average decor. Lets face it if a restaurant is dirty when they just open you should run!

The service It is hard to truly comment when you are there with 6 other people. With that being said the staff was very friendly and attentive always checking on me and making sure my drink was filled!

The food

I ordered the lunch special which was a soup and entree for 10.55 which was an amazing value. I started with the chicken coconut soup. It had great flavor and the had alot in it for being a cup of soup. For my entree I ordered the drunkin noodles and what can I say but wow. First off the portion was generous at for 10.55. The flavor was great and cooked to perfection. I honestly cant wait to go back and try more stuff when I am down...

I was craving some tasty Thai and decided to give Joy's a try. Portion sizes and flavor were poor....Spent a good amount of money for a low quality (temperature was cold and tiny portions). Photos can speak for themselves. I put the wrapped chopstick as a measurement reference. $7.95 provides you with 5 wings "Thai Buffalo" they are smaller than chicken wings at any local pizza shop and have 0 flavor. $7.95 provided you with 4 tiny; sadly flavorless and cold chicken satay sticks. $24.95 affords 4 tiny pieces of lamb, on the upside this actually has flavor. The ice thai tea was decent. Overall, there are larger portion and more flavors in the area, don't choose here.

We went here for dinner and shared crispy rolls, pineapple fried rice, and chicken massaman. We also each had a delicious starter of the Thai Salad. The Thai Salad was fresh and the veggies were crisp and good. The pineapple fried rice was very flavorful and good. I would definitely get it again. The massaman was so creamy and sweet and yummy. We had an all around good experience and I plan on coming to Joy Thai when I am back in town again. I will say that if you are in a rush, order way ahead of time. They have only one cook. This wasn’t a problem for us because we were in no rush but keep the wait time in mind when you plan on coming here.
