it was important for me to take a few minutes to express my sincere thanks to Mr., Bob White owner of Boscawen Gold & Silver. Over the years I have worked exclusively with professionals on the Diamond District, Bowery Street in New York City, and Samson Street in Phila, Pa while purchasing fine gold and diamonds. With this noted New York and Phila although the mecca of the gold and diamond industry does not hold a comparison to the superb, professionalism and respect provided by Mr. Bob White. His outstanding knowledge, diverse approach to all who enter his store is quite exceptional within the times we live in today. I have not only purchased a few things over the years, but I have elected to no longer travel to the BIG City as the heart of Winchester holds the finest professional in the industry that I have ever encountered. Mr. White is not only “fair/and honest” his word means everything, “if you are not happy with your purchase, please return if for a full refund”. One things that the public may not understand, the best way to discuss your needs with any vendor in this type of industry is to go into the store as they are extremely busy, and unfortunately you may not receive the response necessary to make a solid decision across the phone.
Honestly, without being a valued customer in this business owners store I can guarantee you that I would no longer enjoy the pleasure of purchasing jewelry or any other items in Winchester, VA just out of fear that I would not have the ability to express my opinion about my purchase with the other party. At Boscawen you are consulted from beginning to end, and encouraged to come back if it does not suit your requirements once you get home. With excellent right here in Winchester like to this, who wants to travel to New York, and possibly end up with nothing less than a major problem. My thanks to Mr. Bob White and staff for excellence in the community of Winchester, VA. YOU HAVE A CLIENT FOR LIFE!!!!
THANK YOU,...
Read moreSo torn on this review but I can see that others share my experience so I'll chime in. First the good stuff: LOTS of old jewelry which I love. Everything but the diamonds are fairly priced. I suspect the business model is just to sell as many diamonds as possible and not worry so much about the rest. The son is decent to work with. This shop has more inventory than anyone could sell in two lifetimes and zero online presence. Which brings me to the bad stuff. It's really clear that the Bob guy should have retired long ago. I've never been in and spent less than $1000 but he always acts like he's doing me a huge favor. I am always polite and respectful. Both he and his son have quoted me prices and then changed their minds on things or flat out refused to sell things in the case that are FOR SALE with tags on them. I honestly have been embarrassed at the way Bob has treated other customers when I've been there. Everyone is greeted with suspicion. He's always agitated. This is clearly not his cup of tea. The rules change about what methods of payment are okay on a whim. He insults people. He refuses entry to customers during business hours. Basically it's not worth going in if his son isn't there. It's such a shame. I would buy a ton of stuff from this place if it didn't make me so uncomfortable to go in. Lots of missed...
Read moreBob was incredibly rude for no reason. I drove 30 min off my route to go to this store because another antique store owner recommended me this place. I simply asked if they had lockets and he said "Speak English, I dont understand your accent. I can't help you unless you speak English". Mind you I've lived in the states for years, finished 2 grade school degrees and a lot of people I meet tell me I barely have any accent at all. When I repeated my question, he said they do have lockets , but he doesnt know where they are, and he won't look for them. And they are closing anyway (it was still 2 hours till official close time). Why bother running a business if you hate working...
