INTRO: A unique experience, especially for Winston-Salem, that combines the best of both worlds - alcohol and ice cream. The nitro freezing method perfectly blends the alcohol into the ice cream flavor and toppings of your choosing, which means that Chill Nitro is basically a boozy Coldstone. There are three tiers of alcohol that you can add to your ice cream, each at a different price point. Since I'm still a student, I opted for the cheapest option. Because North Carolina has some unusual laws regarding alcohol, Chill Nitro has to register each customer as a member of their "club". It's the only way that they can serve both alcohol and ice cream.
ENTREE 1: Smore's with Kahlua ($9.50) - A rich, creamy combination of graham crackers, chocolate chips, vanilla ice cream, kahlua, chocolate drizzle, and mini-marshmallows. The flavor is insanely good, but it definitely broke my wallet since you can easily get a quart of ice cream for a fraction of the price. The texture is smoother than my smooth-talking, so you know it's super smooth. 9/10
WORTH IT? Definitely for the experience, but my wallet wouldn't be able to afford multiple...
Read moreFirst time coming here and I wish I could rate this one more star, but towards the end of receiving my ice cream it wasn't what some of the reviews said it would taste like. First off upon ordering the staff didnt really give me any recommendations or really tell me how ordering worked. I wanted to have more things added to my ice cream but they just took my order and moved it down. I did not know the ice cream came with optional liquor. Second my ice cream was already melting by the time it was handed to me not sure if they called the order correctly but the music in the lobby was so loud I couldn't hear with all the other people talking. And finally the ice cream does not taste at all like ice cream. It taste like water more than anything. I understand its nitro but it takes away from the flavor of the milk. I ordered a Butter Pecan none of it taste like butter pecan just milky water with drizzled caramel and I didnt have much of any pecan in my ice cream. Sorry but this was a terrible experience...
Read moreThis was my first experience at Chill Nitro, and nitrogen frozen ice cream in general.
I enjoyed it, although it was a bit pricey for two small ice creams. However, it was most certainly “dessert and a show,” as the freezing of the ice cream is done by nitrogen being pumped into Kitchen Aid mixing bowls where your ingredients have been placed.
The process was very cool to watch, and most definitely different than any other ice cream shop I have been to before.
I got cookies and cream ice cream, and my friend got Cheesecake ice cream. The texture of my ice cream was nice and creamy and smooth. However, her texture was off a bit, and it seemed icy. I am sure that is due to how it was made, but mine did not seem to have those characteristics.
I think it was a good experience, but it was a bit pricey for ice cream. However, since a small portion was pretty large, I don't think you would need...
