Food Lion — Local services in Yadkinville

We wish that we could give this a zero star rating. The whole experience was terrible.

We placed a Togo pick up order that was confirmed at 10:32am. At 11:13am we received another text saying that we are sorry for the inconvenience, but the Food Lion order is running late because no shopper is currently available. And that they would update us as soon as they could when our order would be ready. At 11:20am we received ANOTHER text stating the order is scheduled now for pickup at 1:10pm today and that we could add or make adjustments to it. That's when we called at 2:00pm since we had not received the text stating it was ready for pick up that we normally get.

The first person we spoke to was a gentleman who stated he couldn't even find our order in the system. I asked how that was possible since we have a text confirmation and the money had been taken from the account. He cut me off mid sentence and said " woah woah hold on now". He had an attitude, then placed us on hold. Came back on the line and we could over hear him speaking to another person saying that there were 9 orders behind. He came back on the line stating he found it, and that it would be ready as soon as it could, that they were behind. I asked if he had ANY idea of a time frame since we had to be some where at 5pm.

He said nope. So we said okay we will give them a little while to catch up.... fast forward to 4:05pm when we call back with no update still. We asked to speak with the manager as soon as the same person picked up the line. We were placed on hold again and then finally was connected to a woman. We explained our situation and asked if it would even be ready today or if we should just cancel the $400 order all together. She placed us on hold. Came back and gave us very similar information. Stating "they had no idea when our order would be shopped that they don't know when ours would be selected." Then asked someone in the back ground "They won't shop after 6pm right?" She came back and said it shouldn't be after 6pm tonight. At this point we are 2 hours out and decided since it was such a huge order of 61 items that we would leave it be. I said thanks and hung up. I didn't want to waste my energy asking the obvious:

How can a Togo order placed at 10am not be ready 6 hours later? If you don't have any shoppers available and there is a delay why are we not being updated with a new time to pick up that is truthful? Why would you send us a confirmation of a pick up time at 1:10pm if it wasn't going to be ready for another 5 hours? I know for a fact that Food Lion employees shop these orders and you're going to tell us that you have NO way of knowing when they are going to shop it? Or try to remedy the situation by having someone start shopping it now?

I promise you that we will never be shopping at this Food Lion ever again. Which is pathetic that we are now going to take our business to another town. It's definitely going to be worth the drive to either Lewisville,...

Update: I went in today and when I wanted to pay using two different cards the cashier was rude and acted as if I wasn't listening to what she was saying about how it needed to be done. But, I was actually right and she realized that a couple of minutes later. But I didn't appreciate her attitude towards me when I stayed quiet and just let her find out for herself that I was correct. I know that people have bad days but she was perfectly happy with the gentleman in front of me. So I don't think it was that. I feel like it was because she felt some kind of way about me using two different cards to pay for my 3 items. 🤷 Times are tough for so many people and at least I had the money to pay and I didn't have a card be declined or anything. I will not be going back to this Food Lion again any time soon that's for sure. I hate going to the grocery store as is due to increasing higher prices mostly, but when I do, I'm not going anywhere that I'm disrespected.

Great Customer Service & the store is always clean. They always have a good selection and although they do run out of things from time to time, it's not habitual by any means. I'm not in this area often but if I am, I don't hesitate to stop here and pick up anything...

Hands down the best and most fun place to go in Yadkinville. Open 24 hours which blows my mind because most other Food Lions are not, and almost everything else in the town is shut down by 5-7pm. Except the cafes which close at like noon.

The only other 24 hour business is Sheetz, which thrives exclusively due to its intermediary position between Winston and Boone, as well as the high schoolers who loiter there when their allowance won't get them enough gas money to make it to Hanes Mall.

Prices at Food Lion are astronomical compared to Walmart, Aldi, Trader Joe's etc but it is the grocery store of choice for poor rural people because it's the ONLY choice without driving 25-35 minutes.

If you're ever in Yadkinville, definitely check this place out, the town is so boring it shines as a gem by comparison! If you stay in Yadkinville long enough, you will find yourself shopping here at odd hours for a handful of items just to burn minutes away from your dreary,...
