This is one of the worst hotel stays I've ever bet experienced. My fiancé and I stayed here for 1 night in beginning of January 2023. We arrived late night and upon entering our room we found it was as cold as the outside. I was shocked because the only entry to the room is from inside the building. I quickly turned on the window heat unit and turned to jump under the covers to fin only 2 thin sheets for bedding. Needless to say I was very unhappy. But as the night progresses it gets worse. We finally got the room up to 68 degrees and laid down to get some rest. I got up to use the bathroom early morning and went back to bed. Woke up again at 730am and went to use the bathroom to find the floor soaked in cold water. Asked my fiancé what happened and he said "after I went to the bathroom earlier and toilet never stopped running he caught it as soon as he could and fixed the flap in the tank to make it stop overflowing. And that he would talk to the manager at checkout because there's nothing to do about it right now" oh about 930am I woke up and went to go get breakfast and was approached by the manager who started belittling me and berating me about the wet floor. I tried to explain what happened but he just continued to be disrespectful saying I broke his toilet. As a woman this was very scary and embarrassing as he was verbally attacking me publicly in the hall. I made my way to breakfast to find stale bread minimal options and the waffle mix for the hot iron was so thin that I tried 2ce to make a waffle but it only made a burnt shell in the hot iron. I went to take my fiancé breakfast in bed as I always do when we travel but there were signs on EVERY piece of kitchen equipment saying "no food outside breakfast area". At this point I gave up and packed my stuff getting ready to leave. A call at 1025am rushing us out even though check out is 11am was the final straw. I decided I would write this review.|Before we left my fiancé went to talk to the manager about the toilet and the way he spoke to me and the manager was dismissive and rude to him as well saying we broke the toilet.|The truth is if basic maintenance was done to this toilet (replacement of the flapper) this issue would never have happened.|All in all this is one of the worst hotel stays I've ever experienced and I caution everyone against wasting your money at this...
Read moreThe room we stayed in was actually very clean and the air was pleasant and fresh which I appreciate! I didn't detect any scents or fragrances trying to mask any scents. Beds are really quite comfortable. Nice clean bedding with lots of comfy pillows. My husband and I both remarked about how well we slept and how comfy we were all night. The walls are thin but the a/c unit in our room worked pretty good to provide some white noise. However, when the unit cycled off at temperature we could hear the baby crying next door, conversations coming from the hallway, and people coming and going from the exit door which was right next to us. When the wall unit kicked back on we couldn't hear a thing so we asked for another blanket and turned the thermostat WAY down so it would keep running and we could have some peace lol. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Pool looked nice and maintained although we did not have time to enjoy it this time. The amenities are pretty sparse. There is free Wi-FI but no SmartTV, Roku, Smartcast, or TV streaming available at all. I guess we had a couple dozen channels but nothing really of interest so we played cards. Coffee is NOT good in the room or in the lobby at breakfast and they only have packets of powdered creamer. Juice was very watered down, not even sure it was juice? I travel for work a lot and I am very loyal to Windham Hotels, however I stay at a La Quinta when I can because they are usually consistent in any city, but I would stay at a Baymont again. I know Baymont is also a Wyndham hotel and my only wish is that Baymont would provide some decent coffee and juice in the mornings and maybe just take a few notes from La Quinta's breakfast offerings, but all in all we were comfortable at the Baymont in Cherokee, NC and had the best breakfast EVER at Joey's Pancake House in Maggie Valley. Definitely check out Joey's! There is also Soco Falls right up HWY 19 between Cherokee and Maggie Valley that is a great little off the road waterfall you can check out before/after breakfast at Joey's. This is literally the most basic hotel room I've spent the night in for the last 10 years, but if you are looking for something clean and comfortable for a night or two while you check out Cherokee then this is might be a good...
Read moreWe stayed from 06/15 - 06/17. Upon check in I was charged too much for the room. Should have been charged 332.00 for 2 nights but was charged 381.00. I received the text confirmation from my back the minute my card was swiped at check in. When I questioned the 2 very unprofessional ladies at check it I received a number of reasons this might have happened including that trip advisors charged me fees? Not true or it was a banking error. I returned to my room and indeed it was not charged by Trip Advisor and the only transaction that day was for the Hotel. Went back to the lobby and was told there was nothing they could do. They called the manager who stated he does not work on the weekends. I am now taking up the dispute with the bank and they will go after the hotel for the difference. In the room the toilet would not flush unless you held the handle down for at least 30 seconds and only a few of the channels on the TV worked. once it flushed we had to lift the lid off the take to have it stop running. I went to the lobby again and they stated they didn't have anyone available to fix it and was told that the cable company sucked in this area and there was nothing they could do about it. The next morning it would not flush at all and there was no water pressure in the shower. I walked to the lobby to find 2 different clerks who were wonderful. They were neatly dressed in there uniforms and very pleasant. A big difference from check in as both clerks were not neat in their appearance and neither were wearing uniforms and their white shirts were brown wrinked and not tucked in. On Saturday they offered to have someone look at it when we stepped out for the day. After being gone much of the day we come back to rest only to find that they were still working on it and the floor had flooded. We asked to be put in a different room as we had no idea how long the repair would take. we packed up and moved to a different room. Still no tv the whole weekend as again we were told the cable company was working on the problem and at check out there still was no TV. The rooms were clean but with everything we had to go through will not be staying here again or...
