First impressions upon walking in several months after opening weren't the greatest. Sure there's stuff everywhere but the walls are empty, it honestly looks like they took what wasn't picked through when Hastings was going out of business and decided to sell it. The CD selection was abysmal at best, categorized somewhat into genre but no alphabetical organization to be seen. Those dividers with band names help a ton and not having them resulted in me not wasting my time. The books suffered much the same in that I didn't see any category signs anywhere. I didn't even bother with the DVD/Movie section assuming there would be a lack of organization there as well. There was a pretty decent selection of games for a variety of systems although some of the older cartridge based games were just plain dirty looking and unappealing. Some even had the names of the original owners in sharpie still on them which can easily be taken off with a magic eraser (don't touch the labels with it though). When I see games like that I think "Gee, if the games look like this, could you imagine what the systems look like?" It just shows a lack of standard when it comes to used merchandise and makes someone like myself disinterested in buying anything not factory sealed. While browsing games I noticed they have a Famicom Mini system which I found to be really cool. For those that don't know, that's the Japanese equivalent to the NES Classic Edition. That's not something many stores would bother importing and I almost pulled the trigger on it to save myself the time. There's other collectibles they have like Pokémon plushies that are imported, likely due to cost but sometimes better for those who collect because they're good quality and often variations you can't find otherwise in the states.
All in all I think this store needs some work. It's not even close to what I've seen at other Vintage Stock locations. What comes to mind is a sub par Goodwill, It feels lifeless upon entry and even the staff looked pretty bummed out. There were a few redeeming qualities that only someone with specific taste and interests would find cool, but not at all a place I feel I...
Read moreIt's been awhile since I've been to this business so I thought I'd update my review and give it 5 stars this time!
I came from Game Stop again who couldn't help me and again sent me to Vintage Stock. I have an XBOX 360 S that I ordered online but I couldn't play any games on it cause it needed a memory hard drive or something to save the games on. I had ordered an external hard drive and a memory chip for a regular XBOX 360 but neither work on the one with the S in the name. I was at a loss of what to do.
The clerk there explained to me that the console needed an internal hard drive that it should've came with. He told me that no one sells them anymore in-store, I had to buy them online. Though he did suggest that I check the console again and told me just how to check.
When I got home I found the spot to check and sure enough there was a 260 GB internal hard drive that just needed pushed into its slot. I appreciate his knowledge and that he didn't try to sell me another product I didn't need. I also bought some new games while I was there too.
Old review with 4 stars... I hadn't heard of this place till Game Stop told us to go there for PlayStation 2 games. It's located where Hastings had been. They buy, sell and trade games, movies and more. It has a big warehouse feel to it. Shelves and shelves of movies, games, music and etc. We found the games we needed AND games for our XBoxOne. They were having a 4 day Presidents Day Sale ( Buy 2, Get 1 free). I had to look around a bit and saw guitars, gaming systems, gaming cards for my son's computer games and also saw that they buy gift cards to anywhere. There's a pop cooler and snack candy sold by the registers. This is like a hidden gem for gamers and movie buffs. The clerk's looked young, but were very helpful in pointing out where to look. I had to use the bathroom and found it hidden in the front of the store, they do have a changing station in the Women's restroom. With these prices I'll be back to check out more...and I do have some movies and games I could sell or trade. Now to go home and let the kids see how well...
Read moreSo I went in with the intention of buying cards against humanity. I looked around and saw that they had the bigger blacker box which I thought would have cards to play the game too so I say I would like to take a look at the item and he just goes straight to the cash register and I see on the box that it has 4-20 players on the side. So seeing that I'm like ok we're good. So I don't get to hold the item till after I've handed him the cash and he hands me the item. I leave get home and open the box. There is nothing inside excepta small envelope with 1 card. So I proceed to call and ask for a cash refund I am told no. So I drive to vintage stock and ask the same cashier who checked me if he can do anything for me after explaining the situation. He says yes I can and says he can get me the base set if I pay the difference In the items and I have no problem and gladly accept. So I get the money out and a woman walks out and raises her voice and says "why are you in here I already told you over the phone you couldn't return it." I tell her that I asked for specifically for cash now I'm ok with in store credit. She refuses asking me again why I came in at all and I tell her my reasoning and she then proceeds to stomp over to where the product is and shows me a label on the bottom in fine print on the plastic wrapping that it does not contain cards. So I ask her why wasn't I notified of this at purchase since I wasn't able to inspect the item pre purchase. She just says that her staff didn't know. Then I asked why I was granted a refund and she said her staff didn't know. So her poor communication skills and her lack of management lost me 40$ that she refuses to give me a portion of as I store credit. I had my receipt and it was in 24 hours of the original...
