Heading home from OKC, we stopped in around 1 a.m. on 10/30/2021.
Our waiter, Andrè was amazing! Very polite and even though he seemed to be the only one actually cleaning up and waiting on most of the people, he kept up better than most waitstaff with years of experience could have done. Even though he was cleaning all tables, keeping drinks full for everyone, greeting everyone that came in, he managed to treat each table with a smile and courtesy. Would recommend him all day long, and he’s the reason that I’m giving it a 5 star. I refuse to deduct from him, for the other half of the waitstaff. If I could, I’d give him an extra star, for not losing it on her.
Which now brings me to the girl with the bright red hair. I apologize that I didn’t get her name, as thankfully she was not our waitress. For most of our visit, she was off here and there, not doing much. What she did do, was done with less than minimum effort. When our order came up, she grabbed part of my order and delivered it elsewhere. When called on it by another staff member, she claimed, “I wouldn’t do that,” and laughed. The table behind me that she waited on didn’t receive drinks or silverware, until one of the cooks noticed. Even then her reply was simply, “Well maybe they just didn’t want any of that until they got their food.” When the cook questioned this, she told him he wouldn’t know. As with everything else she was questioned on, she appeared to think she could talk badly to other staff, and had a snarky tone to her voice. For the record, no the table had not requested that she hold any of their drinks or silverware. She just didn’t put any priority on it. The table behind my spouse came in, and Andre took their drink order and delivered it. She decided at this point to wait on them. She was short with them while taking their order, it was if they were an inconvenience to her, to be honest. From not smiling, to rolling her eyes, talking in a monotone, to making fun of...
Read moreI have usually had fun experiences at Waffle House but not this time. This was the first time my wife or our foreign exchange student had ever been to a waffle house and I wanted them both to experience a true piece of Americana that is the Waffle House experience. Well, Waffle House you crapped the bed this time.
We walked in to hear a "good morning" from the staff, but no "good morning" we looked for a place to sit down hoping to find a booth. There was only one booth no one was sittimg at but there were dirty dished stacked up on it. We asked the girl that was standing next to the juke box if we just sit anywhere, and she awoke from her daydream to say "I gueess so". We made a gesture toward the booth with the dishes on it and she went and asked one of the girls behind the counter about it. She looked at the dishes and shrugged her shoulders. Then Kaitlin walked up, shruggged her shoulders and started to gather the dishes. We went and sat down and I told my wife and exchange student about how cool it was to hear them call the orders out but it was quiet as a church mouse behind the counter, and about 5 minutes later Kaitlin came back over and handed us menus and asked what we wanted. We ordered, and then all of a sudden, everything changed, in an instance! Sean walked in the door. Everyone said good morning to Sean, then Mariana got a voice and we could hear the orders being called out. A family walked in the front door and the staff said good morning. Sean must be the boss. It shows a lack of integrity in the employees when they don't perform up to their expectations when the boss isn't there. Sean, you have...
Read moreWas greeted with sit where ever you like to sit. So me and my wife sat down at a booth. Order was taken; we had an "All American Breaskfast (which includes a waffle) for my wife and I ordered a grits bowl with egg, cheese and sausage. Ordered coffee and orange juice. 3-5 minutes later our food arrived. Problem: the "all American Breakfast was served without the waffle. We waited and at no point in time during the meal did our waitress check on us or offer to gets us refills on our drinks. At the end of our meal we did inquire about the missing waffle that we didn't get and had to wait for it to be cooked. We had to leave so we had to have them make it to go. This lack of customer service falls on the manager and not the employee for not teaching her employees how customer service should work at this waffle house restaurant. As a manager it falls to you to teach your employees proper etiquette when calling out orders to the kitchen and keeping up with their sections of people they have to serve. The waitress mostly stayed behide the counter doing dishes and then taking a smoke break during our meal. And at no time did she come over to ask if our meal was going good, drinks or in general needed anything before she took a smoke break. Now the MOD was told all of this and said she would speak to her employee about this matter as if it was her waitress' fault for her short coming that the manager didn't teach proper techniques to her employees. This is the manager's responsibility to make sure such practices...
