Tiktok must have definitely ruined this place. All vendors from what we could tell mark up their prices by a huge margin compared to all other markets that we've gone to. They are very hard to negotiate with since a lot of people are seen walking around with bags from shopping so I'm assuming they just pay the tourist tax and so vendors are less likely to negotiate to lower prices since they know tourists will pay the higher prices. Much better prices in Hanoi, Da Nang and Hoi An markets. This was very disappointing since we were really looking forward to coming here
It was not just the insane prices being charged that ruined this place for us but it was also the quality of the goods being sold. The quality of the leather being used for these wallets and purses was not ideal compared to what we've seen back in Hoi An which offered better prices as well
We did end up buying a nice pair of Gentle Monster sunglasses right outside the market for 130k dong which we knew was a little higher than what we could have done elsewhere but the lady was very nice. I would highly recommend going to her over the vendors inside because out of curiosity we negotiated with the ones inside for the same pair and the lowest they would go was 200k dong. Alot of the vendors even when they see you know what a fair price is will still just reduce their original price by 10-20k whereas other places would meet more...
Read moreSaigon Square Market, located in District 1 of Ho Chi Minh City, is a popular shopping hub known for its affordable fashion and accessories. Unlike the more touristy Ben Thanh Market, Saigon Square offers a more organized and air-conditioned shopping experience, making it a comfortable place to browse.
The market specializes in clothing, footwear, bags, and accessories, with a mix of local and export-quality branded items. Many products, including sportswear and casual clothing, are factory overruns, meaning you can find high-quality items at significantly lower prices. However, some counterfeit goods are also sold, so shoppers should check for authenticity.
While prices are already reasonable, bargaining is still recommended to get the best deals. Compared to street markets, sellers here may be slightly less flexible, but negotiation is still possible.
Overall, Saigon Square is a great place for fashion shoppers looking for good deals on trendy items in a more relaxed and modern shopping...
Read moreRelative to Ben Thanh market, Saigon Square is for those who prefer to be left alone, not too interested in bargaining. Checked out a few items and compared the price with Ben Thanh market. Every items, and I mean EVERY, is at least cheaper by 20% over at Ben Thanh after bargaining.
Surely they know consumer will compare prices. After going back to one of the vendor at Saigon Square, she increase her price by 100k. I walked away. The next time I walked passed, she called out to me and reduce her price again. Even after these, her price is nowhere near Ben Thanh market. The only thing I got here is something I cannot find at Ben Thanh market. In fact, only 1 vendor is carrying this item, this brand.
Lastly, beware of the shoe shine/repair scam outside the mall. I see so many people...
