Did you know that you can visit three National Monuments in one day all within 30 minutes of Flagstaff?
Each of these monuments is unique and amazing in its on way: Wupatki and Walnut Canyon are dwellings that tell a story of ancient people that lived near present day Flagstaff and Sunset Crater is the youngest in a string of volcanoes that is related to the nearby San Francisco Peaks.
Sunset Crater Volcano and Wupatki National Monuments are run in conjunction so one entry fee of $25 per vehicle gets you into both monuments.
Have you had a chance to visit any one of these national monuments? Which one is your favorite?

The Grand Canyon and Sedona are great, but did you know that Arizona has 18 National Monuments - more than any other state?
National Monuments in Arizona range from historical sites to areas with interesting geological formations or geological history. Most of these sites are managed by the National Park Service and have a visitor center, restrooms, guided tours etc.
Some of my favorites as listed in the reel are:
✨Montezuma Castle
✨Walnut Canyon
✨Sunset Crater Volcano
✨Wupatki
Have you had a chance to explore any of these national monuments?

Flagstaff Area National Monuments❤️
(AD) The Flagstaff area is home to 3 of Arizona’s 13 National Park Service Monuments. You can easily visit all 3 in a weekend. Individually, each National Monument shares a unique glimpse into life in the area nearly 1000 years ago. And together they help tell the history of the native America culture, prosperity, and geological events that changes the landscape and lives🌲
📱Be sure to check-in at the national monuments and state parks using your free digital Parks Passport from @visit_arizona
🎟️There is one $25/vehicle entrance fee that gets you into both Sunset Crater and Wupatki National Monuments. AtB pass accepted
🚙Sunset and Wupatki are on scenic loop that is 35 miles total
🎟️Walnut Canyon entrance is $25/vehicle or AtB pass is accepted
🥾At Walnut Canyon you can hike the Island Trail. It’s a 1 mile loop and descends 185 vertical feet into the canyon. Stairs are the only way down and up

Here’s why⬇️
We’ve loved every single National Monument we visited. They are all unique and interesting in their own way. But if we HAD to pick our top 5, these would be them.
🏔️Chiricahua ~ is known as a sky island. It rises 6,000 feet above the valley and it’s highest point is at 9,795 ft. As the elevation changes so does the surrounding ecosystems and weather. The monument is at a crossroads between 4 major ecosystems & 5 world biomes. There is 17 miles of hiking throughout the park.
🛻Canyon de Chelly ~ Not only is the canyon beautiful, but it is well preserved. The only way to explore the bottom is with a guided tour. With a tour you learn so much about the people that once called this canyon home and the people that stil do to this day
🌲Walnut Canyon ~ Stunning in so many ways and it left us wondering how and why. Why this canyon? How did they get to the cliff ledges? You can walk out to some dwellings but keep an eye out for others in the surrounding walls
🏺Wupatki ~ The massive pueblos and communities seemingly sit in the middle of nowhere, but the more you learn and think about life here nearly 1,000 years ago. Maybe it was different? Rivers and creeks had more water? Summer temperatures weren’t so bad? We left in awe!
🌵Organ Pipe Cactus ~ This is the only place in the U.S. that the Organ Pipe cactus grows naturally. It looks like they grow out of rocks, but really they use the heat stored in the rocks to survive winter nights. We were blown away by the desert beauty at the park with jagged mountains and plenty of trails
If you made it this far what is your top 5? 🔝5️⃣

STAR THEMED date night itinerary in Flagstaff ⭐️✨ if you didn’t know, @discoverflagstaff is an international dark sky city which means that the stargazing is world class. It’s also the location they discovered Pluto! So we thought it would be fun to design a date night itinerary that are all star-themed.. let’s go! 💫
Stop #1) DARK SKY BREWERY 🍻🍕🪐 this space themed brewery has so many beer options and even @pizzicletta inside for pizza! If you go outside @darkskybrewingco , you’ll find some astronaut murals that are fun to snap pics with. When it’s dark out, it’s time to head to the next stop.
Stop #2) LOWELL OBSERVATORY 🪐🔭 time to see where Pluto was discovered! @lowellobservatory is a self-guided walking experience where you wander all over their property to see into telescopes & talk to astronomers. You’ll see planets so close it will WOW YOU. Cheapest night to go is Tuesday for $22 (unless you’re a flag resident as it’s cheaper every day for you). Plan to spend 1-2 hours here.
Stop #3) COSMIC BOWLING 🪐🎳 after 9pm, @starlitelanes turns from a normal bowling alley to a cosmic glow in the dark alley. You can get unlimited bowling for $14! It’s the best way to end your date night.
If you go try this, please tag us so we can see your adventures! 😍😍😍

The BEST sunset spot in Flagstaff 🫶🌇
Just minutes away from Downtown Flagstaff, the drive to Lowell Observatory offers a spectacular view of the city and Mount Humphrey in the distance. Pull over into the little lot halfway to the observatory for this view!
After the sun sets, visit @lowellobservatory and check out their six advanced telescopes on the observation deck for the opportunity to see nebulae and nearby galaxies! Lowell Observatory is a world renowned observatory, known for the discovery of Pluto and creating lunar maps for landing sites on the moon - it’s a must-do activity when in Flagstaff 👏
