Rebelion Review
This was a challenging review and rating for us.
On the one hand we really liked the people here. Both the host and our server were charming and attentive. We also found the food to be quite good - but it was not great (especially considering the prices).
The sharing plate of Brussels sprouts in brown butter with almonds was very small, and the sprouts themselves were a pallid green at best. The grilled chicken was cooked perfectly with a nice char while still being juicy. As for the flavour, there was no hint (like none at all) of the advertised gochujang on the chicken, and the promised honey glaze was so subtle as to be barely discernible.
The highlight of the meal was the side of baked sweet potato with crispy battered onions. Absolutely on point.
They have an interesting wine list, but their wines are pricy for this market. We indulged in a couple glasses of Sauvignon Blanc with our meal. They were good, but not ARS $5,000 good (*we had better wine by the glass the previous evening at another resto for ARS $2,900).
Cost for one small sharing plate, two grilled chicken with baked sweet potato mains, two glasses of wine and one bottle of still water: ARS $60,000...
Read moreThe place looks nice and the music wasn't loud so we could talk and have a conversation. Service could be better, too many different servers coming to the table, so they kind of lose track of what is going on with you. Also takes long time to get your drinks.
Just to clarify, we only ordered buñelos to snack on it. So we didn't try any other menu options. I was really disappointed. There was more dough on them than spinach. There were also greasy.
We drank a pomelada, which was ok, lemonade, ok as well but didn't feel made from fresh fruit. The white sangria with jarabe de maracuya was super sweet (if you like sweet drinks go for it!). We asked for a glass of chardonnay to add to it (since the ingredients listed chardonnay as the wine) and the server said they use torrontes to make it which is a sweet wine. So we asked for any other non sweet white wine, and he said they only had sauvignon blanc, so we added that to the previous drink and then tasted a little better.
Another server approached and mentionesld we weren't going to be charged for the glass of wine (but we were) . For the price you will find way better options...
Read moreThis is by far the worst restaurant I have ever been to and that includes dinner at my mother in law’s. The waiter came and was trying to take our order however he clearly did not want to be here and gave us so much attitude that it felt like we owed him money. After he took the order I saw him write down an extra plate, which we corrected him on it and received an attitude back. Well he passed us along to another waitress who was apparently predisposed to not liking us by strategically avoiding our table for 30 min. Hallelujah, they brought us drinks after we literally had to beg for them. Needless to say after 3 or 4 different waitresses we got our food an hour later. The steak I ordered was as thin as an ordinary paper. I couldn’t cut it with a knife for several reasons. First, they didn’t give me a steak knife, had to use a butter knife. Second it was the same consistency as an iron plate. Third, the table felt like it will keel over when I was cutting it. Needless to say I tried eating it by hand. So people, when you see their sign, avoid it. Your life may...
