Wine Republic — Restaurant in Yerevan

No recommendation for Sushi / Poke Bowl. Unfortunately you can taste that the staff has no idea how japanese food and sushi is supposed to taste like. It was the worst and strangest sushi rice we ever had in our life. The rice was more like some kind of rice dough? It was really strange as if they overcooked the rice and then rolled it out. It was also strangely sweet. The poke bowl came with an actually pretty horrible sauce that tasted like pure acid, also why would you combine Sushi bowl with this kind of lemon sauce? These pickled pepper pieces also didnt match with the Poke bowl. The Avocado was hard. All in all it was just way to obvious that it wasnt Japanese or Asians preparing the food or people that are properly trained on how to prepare japanese food. I dont understand why Restaurants put something on their menue if they have no idea about it and are not even interested in trying to understand what they do. The service was wonderful for a table of 9 people (called ahead for reservations). They spoke great English and were very speedy on delivery of the apps and entrees. I had Tom Kah soup that was delicious, even came with extra spices. My Indonesian chicken dish had regular chicken and a cut up fried chicken tender that was straight up pink inside - like the chicken had been browned on the outside but not cooked through. I asked them if it was done, they took the dish back to the kitchen and later came back out telling me it was fully cooked 🤔. I quite like Wine Republic. The staff is great and I really like the atmosphere. For some items, like burgers or wine, the prices are also just great, some other things, like pastas and most of the main dishes, can be found better and cheaper in other places. Last time we visited they had absolutely delicious Thai dishes. Don't order mulled wine, apparently, they have no idea how to make it. Wine Republic often gets overly crowded in the evenings so there might not even be free tables and you might want to book in advance. It also gets...
