My safety was greatly compromised at this hostel. A long-term guest who was staying at the hostel woke me up twice in the morning by shaking me and asking me to go into his bed or if he can join me in mine (I was on the top bunk). When I refused, he kissed me on my lips and on my cheeks the second time. I did not consent to this.
A similar incident happened to another guest while I was there who wasn't even sleeping in the same room as him. We decided to report the incident to the hostel staff. They informed me that there had been previous reports of similar incidents by other female guests. When we followed up with them about what they would do, they said they would not kick him out because he had 8 days payment owing and that we could lock ourselves in the rooms to protect ourselves instead even though there were women sharing a room with him and there were women in other rooms who may not have been aware of his behaviour.
The response from management demonstrates their lack of empathy and shows that they do not care for the safety and welfare of their guests - especially of the women that decide to book accommodation at...
Read moreFor the Yerevan Envoy, first it is in a perfect location, surrounded by cafes, eclectic bars, basement pubs, shops, parks ... and close to the Cascades and Opera House. Second, it is a nice clean facility, very quiet, a decent common room and kitchen in the basement, bathroom and shower very clean. Third, the staff was very engaging and helpful, they offered free city walking tours and a full spectrum of paid tours. For the room, I had the second floor single (with bunk beds) that had a small balcony along the street side, which was very enjoyable to have the door open while I worked to enjoy the muted bustle of the city, but had very limited street noise at night (silent with door closed). My hosts were astounded when I asked them to transfer me from the Ramada to the Envoy, but for me it was an excellent move, there were several other guests that were 50+. Also, just a half block away was a fantastic "ethnic bar", the Calumet (don't miss this) and excellent fast food, the Grill.am, but the Beatles Pub further down the street really stunk (rude bartender, too loud music). Thank you again, Envoy, hope to see...
Read moreI originally booked with them via Booking.com, but later had to change my dates. I contacted them on WhatsApp, and they told me not to rebook through Booking.com and that they would hold my spot directly (for the same price but obviously they didn’t have to pay any fees to booking.com) . Unfortunately, I later had issues with my flights and informed them the day before (as soon as I knew) that I would not be staying in Yerevan at all. Despite this, they told me they would still charge me.||I was wondering how they would be able to charge me, since I never gave them any credit card information outside of Booking.com. Shockingly, they misused my card details from the Booking.com system!! Legally, hotels can only keep those details for 10 days after the official cancellation —this happened on day 24. In other words, they stole my payment information and charged me!!||When I confronted them and reported the case to Booking.com, they still refused to refund the money they had no right to charge in the first place. This is unacceptable, and I am reporting them to the police.||Do not book with them—completely...
