Thank you very much for all your efforts that kept us safe and alive tonight! Tonight (July 15, 2024), my friends and I had planned to dine at Amalfi Pizzeria Ristorante, a restaurant we had never visited before. We placed an order for a large specialty pizza from their menu. When the pizza was served, the staff unfortunately did not inform us of its name. As a result, we began eating our meal. After some time, the same staff member approached us and informed us that the restaurant had mistakenly served us the wrong pizza. They explained that we would still be required to pay for the incorrect pizza since we had already consumed it. Additionally, if we still wished to have the specialty pizza that we had originally ordered, we would need to pay for an additional serving. This meant that we had to cancel our original order in order to receive the pizza we had not intended to have. We regret to inform you that our experience tonight was quite disappointing. The pizza that was served to us was excessively salty, to the point of being inedible. We were not at all impressed with the quality of the food. Furthermore, we were surprised that the manager did not take responsibility for the situation and instead sent two waiters to address our concerns. They simply stated that the mistake was not their fault and that it must have occurred before the food was served, possibly in the kitchen or elsewhere. (We found this response to be unprofessional and dismissive.) Additionally, they were not asked about any food allergies prior to our meal being served. We can not help but wonder what would have happened if any of us had a severe allergy. It is concerning that the staff did not take the time to inquire about this important matter. Given the totality of our experience, it is unlikely that we will be returning to this establishment in the future.

I hope Frank (if he is still an owner) is made aware, because this is hard to leave a review like this, but I feel that Amalfi has increasingly dropped the ball in the last 6-12 months. I have been a huge fan of the Amalfi Pasta dish for 20 years, it is my go-to dish that I regularly treat myself to (travelling from the other side of the city); and when someone asks where the best pasta is Adelaide is - I would always suggest Amalfi on Frome. However on the last 3 occasions, it doesn’t seem like the same restaurant. The charm of the Amalfi Pasta is the light buttery cream sauce with prosciutto, mushroom and a hint of chili, it is simple yet refined, delicious, perfectly cooked pasta. But tonight it was a tasteless watery cream mess with random large chunks of coarsely-cut prosciutto. It seems like the pasta cook has just added a bunch of ingredients together not knowing what the draw of the dish is. It’s nothing like it. My partner usually gets the Amalfitana, and hers was even worse. Her pasta needs to be gluten free, which I know is harder to cook, but theres no consistency: some of the pasta is undercooked, almost crunchy, while other parts are brittle and falling to pieces. Whats more theres just barely any flavour - she is used to it having layers of taste but I tried some and it’s like something you would find at a pub or Fasta Pasta, not an Adelaide institution. I have really tried to convince her that the Amalfi I know and love will return - but it’s been 3 times in a row now of pure disappointment. We didn’t even feel like finishing our plates. So, honestly - I sincerely hope you can turn things around because I really want my favourite restaurant back :) Thank you.

Reviews indicate we probably would have enjoyed this had it not been busy. We arrived on Saturday night at 8:40pm. We thought it looked pretty busy but the waiter told us that the kitchen wasn’t too busy and food takes around 20mins. He was friendly and helpful, we sat outside in the street. The service stopped there. Two older waitresses were purposely avoiding eye contact. After waiting 15mins, I went in to order and she said she would come to the table. She came and took our order. At 9:30 I went inside to see if our order had been started (we wanted to leave) the same waitress saw I was standing in the line with customers paying and continued to ignore me. After waiting a few minutes in line I heard our table number being called and I followed her out as she took one of our plates (again ignoring me). At 9:45pm she came and said the council workers ‘just’ told her they’re opening the street at 10pm and will we be finished or do we need help changing tables. We asked for the bill. When she asked how everything was, we explained that we were frustrated with the service - she replied in a very condescending voice that she was sorry that they were busy. Wait times are only 20mins on normal nights. We saw plenty of wait staff so the restaurant has tried to prepare for the higher volume of customers but they clearly have some staff who are not dealing with the demands. My friend enjoyed half her chicken salad before she asked for it to be take away due to needing to move. I didn’t finish my meal, the chicken was sitting in a sauce that was very fatty and lacking flavour.

4 people dining, a pasta dish each - including a large marinara pizza to share between us. Only 3 shared the marinara - and ONLY 3 ended up cradling the toilet bowl that night and the next day! NEVER touching seafood when dining out ANYWHERE again!

Unwelcoming/unsmiling staff, long wait for food - with 4th person having to wait almost 20 minutes longer than the rest (without apology or acknowledgement!). Unfortunately the 4th serve also seemed significantly smaller than the rest - no consistency.

Stained cutlery (with some kind of food particle still stuck on 1 fork), pink lipstick residue on my wineglass. Again - no apology when I asked for a replacement. In hindsight, I sure hope they didn't simply poor the contents from dirty glass into a clean glass!

Got an eye-roll from the waitress when I tentatively attempted to pronounce, "cozze aglio olio" when ordering. Clearly not remotely interested in cultivating goodwill for the restaurant. Needless to say, it put a dampener on our evening. NO ONE goes out to dine and spends more then $200 expecting to be mocked by wait staff! - particularly when paying such exorbitantly high prices for crude peasant food! One expects some minuscule effort to be friendly! Poor reflection on management to see fit to hire such types.

If only I had read the reviews before we booked!

I will say though, that the zingarella was REALLY delicious - but unfortunately was not able to disguise the bitter taste left in our mouths - which is why I cld only give 2 stars. Shame really. The rest of the meals weren't anything special. Really couldn't justify the prices - it's pasta and pizza for goodness sake!

As to whether we'd go back again - hard to say. Deploying Uber for the zingarella might be a safer bet, but still have concerns about cleanliness and hygiene.

To the manager:

Just some food for thought - I was taken aback and disturbed by your mocking other negative reviewers - with unbridled venom. Not the most professional business practice. That lack of respect towards patrons who ARE your livelihood (I might add), portrays you as someone who cares very little about customer satisfaction - or common respect and decency. After reading some of your attacks - I was relieved that WE didn't speak up about our experience at the time. I suspect you would have further contributed to the downfall of our night with your attitude and poor business sense.

One reviewer claimed to have witnessed a staff member's vicious verbal attack on another staff member that appeared almost as though it could have become a physical attack. After reading YOUR attacks on customers, I am inclined to believe YOU might have been the perpetrator. Either that, or ALL your staff have anger issues.

I understand it must be upsetting to read bad reviews, but you don't do yourself any favors by being so offensive and derogatory towards those who keep you in business. You only succeed in reinforcing those negative reviews - if not making things worse for yourself.

If you were to simply apologize - and welcome customers back - to give you another opportunity to rectify the situation - perhaps throw in a cheap glass of wine - you would improve your goodwill, rather than destroy it furthermore. Plus you would give the impression, to prospective patrons -. that they are safe in your hands - and that you value them enough to do right by them.

I would much prefer to go to an average restaurant with exceptional customer service - than a restaurant with exceptional food - and average customer service.

One final note, the way you responded to that poor Uber driver, but most particularly the way you threw food back into his bag was disgusting!!! Shame on you! Your food may not have arrived intact, but you had no right to destroy another restaurant's product out of anger...

I got an extremely terrible experience and less respect from this restaurant! And this is a long story I hope you can read it at all.

I am working with food delivery company, tonight, I got two orders which one was a burger store, and the other was this restaurant. This restaurant was my second trip. At beginning, the burger shop was prepared and gave me the food on time, and then I went to here to pick my second trip food, but they were not prepared and needed to wait for another 6 mins (this situation is normal in here). I was worried the first food to be cooler so I put it into my heating bag, I hoped the food could be nice and safe to the first customer, and this think I also hoped it happens for my second customer. Finally, after the waiting time I got the pizza, I tied to arrange a space for this pizza, so I moved the first food out from the bag and put on the table. I put their pizza into my bag, suddenly, they yelled to me said NO! YOU CAN’T DO IT as THAT WAY! But I put the pizza flat in the bag, am I wrong? They shocked me and I couldn't responded Immediately so I just said okay. AND THEN, suddenly, they took my first order which the burger shop’s bags on table and THREW IT INTO MY BAG! And Said hey, you can go! with SARCASM. I have never seen this kind of rude staff and restaurant in ADELAIDE! Because the first order wasn’t your pizza so you think you could throw it? How a such arrogant and less respect restaurant! Or do you think your food is expensive enough so you can throw others restaurant’s work? Is this think you have had? If the drinks spilled that was whose responsibility?

Therefore, I strongly suggest that don’t order and come this restaurant due to their less respect to customers and delivers. I think we should support a shop where has a right attitude and knowledge to people, not like this...
