Today is the day I decided to be a little bit better of a human being and donate some blood at the Recross a few stores down from Larry & Ladd. My friend and I donated blood, myself never having done it before, my friend a veteran (surprised she has any blood left). After donating blood I waited for 30 minutes to make sure I was feeling ok. I was feeling slightly tired, but overall very fine.
We walked to Larry & Ladd and ordered our coffees, choosing to sit in the café’s outside seating (in the arcade). While waiting for our coffees my vision became blurry, I knew it, my time had come, I was going down. I alerted my friend and she came around behind me and tried to steady me. As I lost consciousness and gracefully fell to the ground, with the additional dramatic scene of pushing a glass of water over; my friend caught me. I woke up on the ground a few seconds later. Looking back now, I realise that the fall could have looked a lot less graceful, a lot clumsier.
I thought to myself, please Lord if you are up there, let the bystanders not crowd around me (for additional embarrassment purposes). They did not since the café is in a perfect place where you are not crammed next to people but still get the city atmosphere. One of café workers came out, brought me water, brought me a straw (sorry to the environment but I actually needed it). He then brought me juice. Then he came out again and offered to make me toast or other foods. It all sounded very lovely, but my brain had the capacity of a potato in that moment, so I really had no idea what I was being offered. They also offered to call an ambulance, and go alert a nurse from the Redcross.
The café staff, workers, baristas were so kind and helpful. They did not make me feel embarrassed at all. Additionally, I have had coffee there before and it’s very very good, some of the best in Adelaide.
So if you are: Prone to fainting Enjoy good coffee Enjoy being served by nice people Then definitely visit this café.
I may not be allowed to donate blood anymore, but I can definitely visit this café.
(P.S. thank you to my blood-less friend who saved me from hitting my head and looking after me for a...
Read moreSo I used to work in Adelaide five years ago and was a big fan (really big fan) of the L&L toasties, particularly the ham cheese mustard pickle and the truffled mushroom. Coffee and vibes were good at L&L too. I’m now here visiting and thankfully the toasties are still there - great. But at what cost? Almost double the cost! $15.50, insane! Admittedly I also received some chips, but really, I didn’t realise that the cost of bread cheese ham etc had doubled. Anyway. If google had the option to rate value it would be one star. Pretty bad on this front guys. But the reality is that the staff were nice, coffee was good, toastie still tasty. Just the price of it. Man. Anyway, great place but please drop the price of your...
Read moreA modern, corporate cafe with delicious bagels and drinks on offer. I had the plain bagel with ham and cheese (I’m not a fancy person) and it was the best I’ve had. Soft bun and plenty of filling. I wasn’t a fan of their hot chocolate but their orange juice was delicious. My co-worker had their matcha and said it was nice. Staff were friendly and attentive, but I think they forgot to make my bagel the first time I went, and then when I went again they gave it to the wrong person. 😅 Very sure it was my bad luck because no one else had any issues! Will definitely be going back if I’m in...
