Serious food safety concerns due to poor hygiene and disappointing customer service Reported to relevant food authorities and local health council online, currently awaiting response. I visited Coffee & Croissant recently and was extremely concerned about the hygiene standards observed. A large number of sandflies were visibly flying over and landing on the croissants displayed openly on the front table. This wasn’t a minor issue—there was a swarm of them, and many were directly on the food. Out of concern for food safety, I politely asked the attendant (possibly the owner, Jin) whether they had any croissants stored away from the flies, perhaps at the back. Rather than addressing the concern, his dismissive response was: “You don’t have to buy them.” When I asked again to clarify, I received no reassurance about food hygiene practices. Subsequently when I asked to confirm if there are absolutely no other crossiants, he told me to come earlier next time. Do note that I was at the shop at 1:15pm on Tuesday. When the attendant noticed me taking a photo of the fly-covered croissants, he quickly changed his tone and said, “Sorry man,” which gave the impression he was more worried about the public perception or being reported rather than the actual hygiene issue. Due to the potential health and safety risk to customers, I have formally reported this matter to the relevant food safety authorities in South Australia (SA Health and the local council environmental health officers). I strongly urge the business to take immediate steps to improve their hygiene practices and staff attitude. Basic food safety standards—such as preventing contamination from insects—must be met, especially for ready-to-eat products like pastries. For those looking for quality croissants and better service, I highly recommend The Croissant Factory across the road. It appears to be Korean-run, with a warm and welcoming team. Their croissants are beautifully flaky, buttery, and far superior in presentation and hygiene. I did not eat any food at Coffee & Croissant, so I cannot comment on the taste. However, given the visible hygiene concerns, I would advise others to exercise caution.

HYGIENE ISSUE: a swarm of sandflies visibly flying over and landing directly on uncovered croissants displayed on the front counter. When I politely raised the concern with the attendant (possibly the owner, Jin), asking if there were any pastries kept away from flies, I was met with dismissive responses such as “You don’t have to buy them” and later, “Come earlier next time.” No reassurance was provided regarding food safety practices. Notably, when I took a photo of the contaminated pastries, his tone abruptly changed to “Sorry man,” suggesting concern about optics rather than the health risk. Out of concern for public safety, I have submitted a formal report to SA Health and the local council’s environmental health team and am currently awaiting a response. I strongly encourage the business to urgently address both hygiene standards and customer service. Exposed food should be protected from insect contamination at all times, particularly for ready-to-eat items like pastries. For those seeking better quality and service, I recommend The Croissant Factory across the road. The team is welcoming, and their croissants are notably superior in both presentation and hygiene.

We found these guys through the Too Good To go app. We had no issues parking straight out the front, though imagine this could fluctuate depending on day/ times so bring a runner to run in and grab if need be. Beautiful service, lovely employee. Very fast and easy and for "Too Good To Go" app I was expecting food to be a little bit "eat straight away" stylr but the freshness and quality was amazing and impressive, you can tell that whoever is making this food is pouring a lot of love into it. On TooGoodToGo we paid $7.99 per surprise bag (subject to change of course depending on their bags each time etc) and we received 4 beautifully crafted and delicious pastries in each bag (just under $2 a piece!!!). Great savings, great quality still. Lovely service. We would love to try more of their beautiful creations. We will come back next time we are close to Adelaide for a proper sit down in there.
