Madame Hanoi — Restaurant in Adelaide

Not a really “Happy” Hour

My partner and I went to Madame Hanoi on Thur for their Bao Bar Happy Hour.

We were seated at 6pm and placed our order shortly.

We ordered a Bao Basket, four different kinds of baos on the menu, the dessert bao and an Espresso Martini.

The Espresso Martini was here after 10 mins we placed the order but nothing came after that.

After an extra 50 mins around 7pm, finally a waitress came and asked are we still waiting for the Baos!

Then she took our order again. After another 10 mins, the Bao Basket was finally here.

It took more than an hour for our first food came.

According to the Menu, the Bao Basket come with 3 types of meat which is Braised Short Ribs, Hanoi chicken and crispy pork belly. However instead of the Braised Short Ribs, they have replaced short ribs with tofu in our Bao Basket.

We advised the waitress that we didn’t request to swap anything. They checked with the kitchen and advised that they ran out of short Ribs so they put the tofu instead. No one mention any thing about the substitution until we asked.

We don’t hate tofu but we’d be appreciated if someone told us about he menu changed before we asked. Plus I am a meat lover!

The other baos we ordered came after another 10 mins and all of the baos were not even warm at the time they were served to our table.

After we finished all of the savoury baos, the dessert bao is still not here yet so we chased that up with the waitress again. After 5 mins the dessert bao is finally here.

It took more than a hour for all our food came. I understand they were so busy due to the high volume of customers that’s why we tried to be patient and didn’t chased up our foods during that one hour.

But bao is not a difficult dish to prepare and it should not take that long. We believe they missed our whole order except the Espresso Martini!

The food is not bad and they are good value but we had a bad experience on waiting the food for more than an hour, and having our oder missed twice. Not really a happy...

Vietnamese x Modern Fusion. Wow! A+++ I have been here a multiple times now and have not once been disappointed. They obviously know what they are doing!

The staff are so well trained and professional. Great service, one of the best service I have received for a high end restaurant. Minor issues are fixed immediately. Friendly and helpful with concerns and options. Very catering to your needs too. Situated within the casino, no need to worry about parking, as it is available all around. The atmosphere is just great, the layout, setting, art, details, everything about this place makes you feel so warm, amazed, and just wonderful to enjoy good food, good company, and good service.

Cannot recommend this place enough! All the dishes is just superb! Some of the meat were just so soft and tender, falls right off. The salad was a good refreshing dish on the side, the hot side dishes and soup was so good. The set meals are honestly top quality! The chef and team did amazing job with putting it all together, it really was the best. All the meals down to the last treat. It was just excellent! Perfect end to the night with light and delicious flavourful dessert to enjoy.

Will be returning in the future for sure.
