Visiting so went here cuz friends from here really hyped about it, so booked a table for their Asian boyfriend and me (another gaysian). (Mentioning this cuz—I hope not, but tbh not sure if the way we were treated was due to our race or our gayness?) 3 of us got a table at 10 PM, seated at 10 PM (took a picture to send to another friend who wanted to come but informed them we got seated at a tiny table—which is understandable given the capacity. The pic is blurry, but the timeframe.) Ordered 3 sides, 4 mains, and 1 bottle of wine immediately. (we were hungryyy and excited) Almost finished the whole bottle of wine, and the food still hadn’t arrived. We only realized it had been almost an hour when we saw three tables that came in way later than us already getting their food—including one big table with almost 10 people and another table that was already finishing up and about to leave. Still, we were being nice and understanding—it was busy, we get it. But then one of the staff finally came over (after ignoring us since serving the wine) and asked if everything was okay, offering to take more orders. That’s when we realized—oh, you forgot about us. So we said, “Nothing we ordered has come yet.” They seemed confused, went to check, and came back saying, “It will be out soon.” At this point, it had already been 50 minutes since we sat down (see picture #2 for the time). At this point, we had received only 3 mains—while 3 sides and another pasta were still missing. While we were almost finished with the mains, they came back and asked if we still wanted the rest (the 3 sides and the last pasta). By then, it was already past 11 PM. We said we’d just take the sides since the wait had been way too long. The staff said they’d cancel the pasta, which was fine—they were just doing their job, and we get that it’s busy. Also, we were literally seated right next to their “desk” outside—where all the staff kept ending up. So it was actually impossible to ignore us? THEN THE STORY BEGINS: This sassy long-haired person comes over—passive-aggressive, gaslighting, and rude. Kept interrupting with the vaguest “sorry” while we tried to explain the situation and were still trying our best to be patient. Then they dropped this line: “Oh, the chef is already cooking it, but I’ll tell them to stop.” Um, excuse me? So because of your poor hospitality skills, the chefs only JUST started cooking our food an hour after we ordered? Guilt trip much? When we had literally already told another staff member we wanted to cancel when they asked/offered before? And then the same rude person who started all this was literally the one who took our second order—for the bottle of wine (which was the only thing that actually got served) and the extra pasta—and yet still forgot everything?! (Not to mention I’d been seeing them walking around empty handed doing nothing but chitchatting like hello???) ⸻ Not a hospo expert, but maybe don’t gaslight or guilt trip your customers when YOU (the staff/restaurant) were in the wrong? We were actually still chilling—nice weather, food was alright, and a bottle of wine on the balcony? Dreamy chef kiss mwah. But the attitude, lack of professionalism, zero empathy, and fake ahh energy from this ‘too cool’ staff member? Bruh, do better. And just to be clear—the wait time itself wasn’t the key issue. We could’ve easily gotten up and asked at any point. It was the attitude. The lack of communication, the way we were brushed off, and how no one ACTUALLY acknowledged or owned up to their mistake—that’s what made this whole thing frustrating. But hey we ate we still tipped extra cuz we believe in good karma. so u do u I guess ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Midnight spaghetti has a cool vibe on a busy Saturday night during the fringe. The decor and ambience are top notch. The service is friendly and helpful. The prices were reasonable with pasta mains somewhere around $25. I felt that what brought the score down a little was the food itself which was competent without being amazing. For entrees we ordered the meatballs, arancini balls and garlic bread. All were nice without wowing me with flavour. I ordered the namesake Midnight Spaghetti. It was supposed to have anchovies and chilli in it. But all I could really taste in it was the tomato and Kalamatta olives. I like olives, but I felt that the other flavours weren’t really strong enough. It’s all I could really taste. Apart from that it was well cooked. My wife got the Tortolloni alla gin which was quite nice and probably the best pasta at the table. The creamy tomato sauce paired well with the stratacelli cheese and the curly pasta which held onto the sauce. Another person at the table got pasta verde. I tried some of the pasta verde and found that the lemon flavour in it overpowered everything else. The person who ordered it said he liked it at the beginning but found it too much by the end. Afterwards we had Semi Freddo, Tiramisu and Cannelloni for dessert. All were pleasant enough. I liked the semi freddo the most. Overall a cool place with good friendly service and decent prices which I would like a little more if the pasta sauces themselves stood out a little better and didn’t let one ingredient dominate.

Visited with my partner with high hopes, when heading down we noticed that Midnight Spaghetti would be closing down in a couple of weeks so that could have had an effect on our experience. We had a table booking so we did not have to wait however finding the restaurant in the first place was quite difficult, there was a lack of signage and I did not see anywhere that it was actually upstairs from the Crown and Anchor. When we arrived we were pleasantly greeted and shown to our table, our waiter was very polite and friendly and assisted us with our orders. The wait for our food wasn’t very long at all, maybe 10-15 minutes, however when it arrived it was a little cold and the serving size was a little small (although for my preference I do prefer quite a large portion) there were a few noodles that were hot but a majority of the plate was cold which was disappointing. The meal itself was very tasty, I have no complaints there, it was the Lamb Ragu. It’s unfortunate that the business is closing down however I fear I won’t be missing it.

Now that was an experience... and not a good one either. We were sat on a small square table for 4 ppl in a corner while a free larger table was sitting empty for the entire evening. Then, when ordering drinks and meals we were told to do the 1800-lover feed me by x2. We said to them 3 people don't drink alcohol (2x bottles of wine included) so can we request them to substitute for non-alcoholic cocktails or sodas which was fine so we ordered. Until they never came out.. after asking twice to check where they were. So now we're 45 mins in and the starters and entrees arrive. We get one serve not two of each item included in the set fee..

It's now an hour in and still no clue whether the all our drinks are coming, and so we ask again, mentioning that the entrees/starters were only one serve and told that was the correct.

I then start to think, how are they even going to get 4 pasta plates on this table because we had not an inch left of room for another piece of tableware. Ended up going in asking what was going on and to confirm what was ordered. The staff were unapologetic until one kind bar lady took over and clarified what should have come out, apologised and then promised the cocktail would come out (by that time only 2 /3 made it to the table). She offered another cocktail on the house and I was hopeful and grateful it would all be sorted out and change the night.

We ended up being moved after I pointed out the free table and addressing the challenge we'd face with fitting mains. Then finally the last mains came out, it was all sorted and an apology was received. We appreciated that the dessert was given to us to take home since the wait was so long, we couldn't stay and were about to miss a band downstairs we came to see.

Just when I thought it was going to end on a mildly positive note, we are charged for the 'free' drink and there's no acknowledgement of what a poor experience they delivered.

In short, will not be returning again. 👎 Please take this as constructive feedback to re-evaluate how this could be better for...

My friends and I visited this restaurant on a Thursday night and opted for the 1800-Lover menu, Feed Me for Two ($90), which includes a starter, garlic bread, two shared pastas, a bottle of wine, a side dish, and dessert. We asked about the wine options before ordering and were initially directed to the Reddy Spaghetti "G.M.C" priced at $48. We preferred the Chianti wine at $53 and asked if we could pay the $3 difference to upgrade. After checking with the manager, our request was approved. We enjoyed our meal, but towards the end of our pasta dishes, we were informed that another group had a reservation in 15 minutes. Despite having ordered dessert as part of the menu, we were reminded of the time constraint before our table was cleared for dessert service. Upon receiving the bill, we noticed a discrepancy as we were charged for two Feed Me for Two options plus two bottles of wine ($51 each), rather than the agreed-upon $6 difference for the Chianti upgrade. After discussing this with the staff, they adjusted the bill by providing a $10 "discount" on one bottle. When we raised further concerns, the staff member we spoke to claimed to be the manager and insisted on the higher amount, threatening to involve the police. Despite our efforts to explain the agreed-upon arrangement, the manager was unapologetic and unwilling to listen, leaving us with no choice but to pay the disputed amount. This experience was disappointing as we were clear with the staff from the start, expressing that if the upgrade wasn't possible, we were perfectly fine with the wine included in the 1800-Lover menu, but instead. However, we were assured that the upgrade was acceptable. The lack of communication and unprofessional behaviour from the manager marred what could have been an...
