I had an extremely disappointing experience at this restaurant during my visit to Adelaide on December 26, 2024, between 12-12:30 pm. As a Vietnamese person, I make it a point to support Vietnamese businesses while traveling, but this visit left me feeling disrespected and unwelcome. Upon entering, I greeted the staff with a smile, yet there was no acknowledgment. Instead, the owner appeared busy tidying up other tables. I had to find my own seat, and despite arriving first, a couple (a Western man and an Asian woman) who came after us received prompt and friendly service. The owner greeted them warmly, arranged their seating, and took their order while completely ignoring us. Only after serving them entirely did they approach us to take our order. When our food was finally served, it was done rudely, with dishes placed in front of us with unnecessary noise, adding to an overall sense of neglect and lack of respect. Throughout my meal, I noticed a stark difference in how the staff treated other customers compared to us. It felt like preferential treatment was given to Western customers, while we, as fellow Vietnamese, experienced substandard service. This blatant lack of professionalism and courtesy was disheartening. As for the food, I ordered three dishes: pho, bun bo, and com tam. Unfortunately, the flavors were far from authentic and lacked the quality I expect from Vietnamese cuisine. The taste was underwhelming and failed to deliver the satisfaction I hoped for. Overall, this was an unpleasant dining experience in terms of both service and food quality. I cannot recommend this place to anyone, and I feel ashamed that such service reflects poorly on the Vietnamese community in Adelaide.

I visited Pho Ho Long for lunch and ordered the Bun Bo Hue (spicy beef noodle soup). I went for the large size, which cost $20. I underestimated how big it would be, but unfortunately, the size didn’t make up for the lack of quality. The soup didn’t taste like Bun Bo Hue at all. There was no hint of lemongrass, which is an essential flavour for this dish. Overall, it was not worth $20, and I was really disappointed. On the other hand, I also ordered the Jackfruit Smoothie, and it was absolutely delicious! It was creamy, refreshing, and perfectly sweet. It was a real treat and definitely the highlight of my meal. If you’re thinking of trying this restaurant, I wouldn’t recommend the Bun Bo Hue, but the Jackfruit Smoothie is worth a try.

First time trying Pho in Adelaide, the broth was not bad and taste very homely not too salty, we tried the beef combination pho, there was a generous amount of meat and I like how you can order a small or large bowl. The spring roll however was not the type of “spring roll “ i was looking forward to having. It wasn’t served with lettuce, mint and fish sauce…instead we were served “ vegetable spring roll” the bigger ones you can get from a tuck shop or canteen instead of the traditional Vietnamese Pork spring rolls that you wrap in lettuce, have with mint leaves and dip in fish sauce 😅i wish the menu had specified “vegetable spring roll” we wouldn’t had ordered it otherwise.
