My recent visit to Shibui left me deeply disappointed and concerned about their commitment to accommodating gluten-free diners. As a parent of a son with Celiac disease, I am always vigilant when it comes to ensuring that the food he consumes is safe for him. Therefore, when we saw that Shibui advertised their desserts as gluten-free, we were excited to indulge without worry.

Unfortunately, our experience quickly turned sour when, despite informing them of my son's Celiac condition and our clear indication of needing a gluten-free option, they added sprinkles to our order. When we questioned this oversight, the staff looked at us as if we were mistaken, which was incredibly disheartening. It wasn't until we insisted on checking the label on the sprinkles that the truth came to light – they indeed contained gluten.

This careless mistake could have had serious consequences for my son's health. If I hadn't been there to intervene, he would have unknowingly consumed gluten, thinking he was making a safe choice. As someone with Celiac disease, he relies on restaurants to uphold their gluten-free claims with integrity and accuracy.

I urge Shibui to take this incident seriously and prioritise proper training for their staff regarding gluten-free dietary requirements. It's not enough to simply advertise gluten-free options; they must ensure that every dish served aligns with their claims to avoid putting diners with gluten sensitivities or allergies at risk.

Overall, my experience at Shibui was marred by this incident, and I am hesitant to return until I can trust that they have implemented necessary measures to prevent such mistakes in the future. For individuals with dietary restrictions like Celiac disease, the stakes are too high...

I recently visited Shibui Dessert Bar and found the experience to be a mix of highs and lows. The ambiance of the place is undeniably impressive, with its chic decor and cozy lighting creating a perfect setting for a relaxing evening. The staff were polite and attentive, enhancing the overall welcoming atmosphere.

However, despite the appealing ambiance, the experience fell short in terms of value. The menu, while offering a variety of intriguing dessert options, was notably overpriced. The portions were smaller than expected, and while the presentation of each dish was exquisite, the taste did not justify the high price tags.

While Shibui excels in creating a sophisticated and comfortable environment, the quality and quantity of the food do not match up to the cost. For those who prioritize ambiance and are willing to splurge for the experience, Shibui Dessert Bar might still be worth a visit. However, for those looking for good value for money, there are better options available.

In summary, Shibui Dessert Bar offers a great atmosphere but falls short in providing a dining experience that feels worth...

Our first time visiting and it was extremely disappointing. The advertisement and reputation of this place has been a classy little dessert bar and it was completely the opposite. The place looked dirty, tacky, and cluttered with dusty junk and stock on display - the photos on google look like an entirely different place to what we visited and was surprised to read reviews about how classy this place is, we actually sat and googled when arriving as we thought we entered the wrong place - the vibe was just not it at all. The deep fried ice cream tasted as though the oil in the deep fryer needed to be changed over desperately and the chocolate milkshake tasted like a cheap powder mixed with ice and milk - overall the food was so average and was served to us in a paper take away bowl even though we were dining in (as did the customers sitting next to us). Not what you expect for that price point. To top it off we travelled all the way for their signature mochi donuts that are all over their social media and advertised on their website only to find they weren’t on the menu anymore - website...

It's really packed. But, the moment you enter the place, it smells like honeycomb. The menu sounds interesting like the raspberry candy opera cake and some items might sound just normal and boring. All items looks really nice. The place is really packed so the service isn't the best even though they are really kind. Recommended for couples, though it is not a very romantic place. Presentation is simply amazing like other dessert places. The etom mess is not usually this good either. It tastes like straight up candy bar. The lychee also pops in your mouth, its like juice inside with a outer soft layer. However, the mango pudding is too confusing. It tastes great and all, but the amount of flavour is too confusing for my taste, at some point i could even taste saltiness from it even though it's sweet and sour. The mango flavour crushed ice is very sweet, so it's a bit underwhealming when you taste the mango pudding because it's less sweet. It's like a burger, you have to have bits of everything. I loved the fruitiness of the dish. Absolute flavour heaven.

We ordered mango mochi waffle, taro fried icecream, and for drinks we had matcha latte and iced taro strawberry. The mango mochi waffle was very nice. The taro fried icecream was already almost all melted inside when we cut open as it was served. The outside was still crispy though. My friend said the matcha latte was not very sweet, and the flavour was OK as well, not too strong, not too weak. The iced taro strawberry drink was interesting. There were 2 huge ice cubes inside the glass, and I can barely taste the strawberry flavour, the taro flavour was much stronger. The atmosphere was nice and relaxing, lots of sitting there when we arrived on a Saturday afternoon. Street parking available outside this place but may need to drive a bit further to find a park.

Speaking from my own experience, staff were extremely friendly and very quick! I had 0 expectations coming in and wow was I amazed. I finished my whole plate and licked it clean. I got the banoffee bubble mochi waffle upon recommendation and wasn't expecting much (how wrong I was...) The waffle was not too flavourful, but the texture itself was amazing. Fluffy, light, bouncy and crispy at the same time!! The caramel sauce was delectable and the banana, caramel and deep fried banana chips (I think) completed the dish as a whole. This was the first time in a long time I enjoyed a dessert and felt that each component wasn't a waste of space. Thanks for the best meal in Adelaide and I'll definitely be coming back 😍😍
