DIRTY, DATED, & TOTALLY DEPRESSING!! I’m absolutely stunned that any person could describe, or think that this establishment is “luxurious”. The dictionary definition of ‘luxury’ is, “a state of great comfort or elegance, especially when involving great expense”. Unfortunately, the only part of the definition that is correct is the reference to “great expense”!! Very recently, (August 2020), after reading the advertising ‘blurb’ and looking at the photographs on the hotel group website, my wife and I chose to stay there for four nights, (special occasion). (Moral … (Husband speaking) “never trust the website ‘blurb’ or the photographs” …. always read the reviews!! …. ALL of them, please). However, from our own personal experience, the “at Waterfront Whitsunday Retreat (18+)” should be avoided at all costs. There are numerous places in the same ‘locale’ that are far superior, cleaner and far less expensive. NOTE: Dear Review Readers …. Please don’t take the content of this review the wrong way … I have no ‘axe to grind’, I have not made a demand for a refund … I am a member of the ‘silent majority’ who simply admit to making a ‘huge’ mistake and are quite prepared to “financially, take it on the chin!!”. However, I would hope to prevent other visitors to Airlie Beach from experiencing the same dreadful experience. • EVERYTHING in the apartment was extremely ‘dusty & grubby’ (finger prints on tables, fridge and bench-top). • ‘Huge’ amount of dust in balcony door runners and surrounds • Filthy, streaky windows • Base of bathroom door frame, (rotten & mouldy!!) • Stained (unspecified?? … hate to think) and dusty apartment floor • Existing, (unspecified) stains on apartment walls • Old (unspecified) stains on the balcony floor tiles • Old cigarette butts in the ash tray on the balcony (not emptied or cleaned) • Exposed sharp vertical metal tube on a balcony chair, (very dangerous) • Filthy, stained ‘block-out’ apartment curtains • Broken glass on apartment tiled floor • Dirty glasses, cups and kitchen utensils – (“totally clagged”, unwashed coffee mug!!) In addition; (as if the COVID 19 pandemic wasn’t enough) • The pillows, bedding and decorative “luxury” additions smelt generally ‘doggy’, (possibly due to previous (existing) old sweat! …. (we thank god we took our own pillows), (Moral … (Wife speaking) “never trust the pillows, always take your own”). • The apartment door lock was broken and never actually worked, • The apartment toilet cleaning brush & holder were “disgusting” (half-full of unspecified brown liquid!!) • The exterior refuse bin area was overflowing with ‘unspecified stuff’ • Garden “very tatty”. Broken garden furniture and lots of...

Read moreCompletely misleading advertising still listed on Google and in print format in unit. Absolutely not 4 star, generous at 2 star. Filthy unit with nothing cleaned properly, extremely run down and dated, mould everywhere, no batteries in TV and foxtel remotes so couldn't use them, capsule coffee machine but not capsules to use in it, no hair drier as advertised, stereo I pod unit not plugged in and no power outlet to plug in to use, stains on everything, couch, bed, linen, no phone in unit to even contact reception to complain about the state of the unit, no after hours help at all so no concierge, no on site staff, no mini bar as advertised, no breakfast available as advertised, steep driveway and no lift to upper floors so no good for travellers with heavy luggage. Road traffic noise too loud even with door shut. We didn't even use the balcony spa and prefer to catch covid than whatever was in the spa, gross! I am happy to pay for 4 star service but this place is beyond a joke and should be shut down. We could not even comply with fire code and emergency procedures as no phone in unit and all directions are to contact via phone, if there is a fire or other disaster your in big trouble! Please read all reviews as all reviews say similar problems, I know things with covid are tough but this is too far disgusting to claim 4 star, sorry guys I can't recommend to even backpackers when charging $300 per night....
