Overall not a bad hotel, the rooms are spacious and comfortable offering a queen sized bed, couch with chaise, laundry, fully functional kitchen, TV, aircon, balcony and large bath in the bathroom. There are a few small drawbacks making the overall experience seem not worth the price; The hotel is that is is located on top of a hill in front of Airlie marina, this boats beautiful views of the ocean, however also means you are climbing a hill everywhere you walk around the hotel. If you've got young children or are not fully physical able, this may not be the hotel for you. They do offer to pick you up in a golf cart and drive you from A to B, but by they time you order the cart to the time it arrives, you could have almost walked it. The restaurant is also quite expensive with small portions and you need to book well ahead of time if you want to eat at a reasonable time. The buffet breakfast is ok, offering a hot and cold buffet, but nothing overly special. There is a pool and spa which is located next to the restaurant and overlooks the bay which is quite nice, it is quite small and not a lot of chairs so you need to get in early if you want a chair, the water is also cold, even in the spa. There is a shuttle bus going to the port and into town at different times, otherwise you can walk, its about 10min to the port and about 20min into town. There is parking on site if you have a car, however not alot of parking by the restaurant. They offer late check out with a fee of $20 per hour. Overall it is quite a nice hotel, but for the price, I would try somewhere...
Read moreWe spent 5 nights at Peppers Airlie Beach. Wonderful staff, always cheerful and helpful. The buffet breakfast was wonderful and it included fresh fruit salad, yoghurts, cereal, Bircher muesli, a variety of cereals, toast and muffins plus a selection of cooked fare, including bacon, eggs, sausages, hash browns etc. We stayed in an apartment privately owned and I must say it was a little disappointing. As it is a self contained villa, complete with an oven (but no microwave) we expected items such as a chopping board, side plates, salad bowl, platter etc but there were none of these! We had to ask at reception and to be fair, they cheerfully located a salad bowl and chopping board. A reminder to owners of villas to please provide such items and keep up maintenance of your villa! The fan in bathroom is faulty (dangerously so) pillows need to be replaced as does the mattress as we left with sore backs and necks. The drains were extremely smelly in this apartment and it wasn't overly clean, with food bits on dining chairs, smeared windows and interior doors. There were quite a number of issues but We'll leave it for now. We don't like to complain but felt it was an important issue considering Peppers is a high end, well known resort. We would stay again but would expect the same high standard the resort has to cover our accommodation. Close to Port Airlie for...
Read moreI was really excited to be staying at Peppers, but sadly I was disappointed. We were shown to our room through the car parking area, which housed the rubbish bins, and was also the access point for dirty laundry, rubbish removal etc.(Not a good look), and after a long day I looked forward to a cup of tea. Alas, our coffee/tea etc had not been filled up, and was not filled up though out our five night stay, nor was our room serviced, or bins emptied, apparently a cost saving measure. The shampoo, soaps and conditioners were also not filled up, but we were told these would be available at a nominal fee at reception. The reception staff went about their job without that extra verv that you would expect, in fact they lacked any animation at all, again not a good look for the first point of contact. I point out at this time that the food and bev staff were excellent. The shuttle bus ran every 2 hours to the town, which was vastly inadequate because of the extreme terrain. If you missed it, or it was full, you would be forced to catch a taxi, unless you had better than average cardio vascular fitness. Overall very...
