I had high hopes for this restaurant, but unfortunately, my experience left a lot to be desired.
Firstly, my drink arrived with a dirty glass with what looked like leftover chocolate milkshake residue—completely unacceptable. Hygiene should be a basic standard in any restaurant, and this was an immediate red flag.
Then came the food issues. I ordered from the "Burgers" section of the menu, which specifically stated that meals came with potato chips. When my food arrived without them, I asked about it, only to be told that the chips only come with the regular burgers, not the Philly steak roll—despite what the menu clearly says. This kind of misleading information is frustrating and should be corrected.
While the Philly steak itself was actually quite nice, it was served on garlic bread instead of the expected roll, something that was not mentioned anywhere on the menu. This makes me think they simply ran out of rolls and made a last-minute substitution without informing customers. Had I known, I wouldn’t have ordered it.
Overall, between the poor hygiene, misleading menu, and unexpected food substitutions, I can’t say I’d recommend this place. A little more attention to detail and honesty with customers would...
Read moreI want to preface that I don't want to come across as harsh, mean or otherwise rude.
I want to start with; the young lady who served us was lovely, and i feel bad for her due to the rest of this review.
The food ordered such as the steaks, the grilled corn and the cauliflower bites were all a let down in every way. The steaks were both (the porter house and scotch fillet) under seasoned and cold. The roasted vegetables were flavourless besides the sour taste of the zucchini, and the uncooked carrot. The cauliflower bites were soaked in a tempura that could crack your teeth. The most disappointing part of the cauliflower bites was that they were Undercooked and bland under the tempura. And finally the "Grilled Smoked Corn".. these were just corn on a cob, boiled, hit with a blowtorch and a light sprinkle of paprika.. this meal cost $140.. by this quality alone, I'd expect $80 tops..
And lastly, your restaurant is having an identity crisis! Is it a grill and wine bar, a seafood restaurant, European dinning, Japanese inspired??? Don't chase profits by increasing your prices but offering substandard food. Find your identity, get good at that menu, and your profits...
Read moreWaterfront View Grill & Wine Bar in Geelong was such a pleasant surprise. The service was good; attentive without being intrusive, and the atmosphere was clean, relaxed, and inviting. The coffee was smooth and palatable, a nice start to the meal.
The food, though, was the real highlight! Easily one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in Geelong.
The vegetarian spring rolls were perfectly crisp on the outside and packed with a delicious vegetable filling inside. The watermelon with feta was beautifully balanced; refreshing, light, and full of flavour. The Korean fried chicken was crispy and delicious, while the truffle and mushroom arancini was decent but probably the least favourite dish of the day. The halloumi bruschetta, on the other hand, was perfectly balanced and executed! A 5/5 standout.
Definitely worth a visit if you’re after great and tasty food, good service, and a relaxed...
