A Memorable Sunday Lunch Experience
Last Sunday, we visited for the first time, and our lunch was an absolute treat for the senses. The flavors were bold and satisfying throughout. The Volcano was a standout—bursting with flavor in every bite, we savored it to the last. While the Ebi Fritter was decent, the Chicken Wings truly impressed with their rich seasoning, as did the crunchy and flavorful Tokyo Street Fries.
The Potato Korokke caught our attention with its unique texture and taste, and the Matcha Tacos were an unexpected delight. Though they resembled matcha pancakes more than tacos, they were still a hit.
The Yuzu Kosho was a hit for us, the beef rib was cooked well along with the vegetables that were served with it. However, the Sweet Potato Mash was a bit of a mystery. Despite the menu mentioning truffle, we couldn’t detect any trace of it—only the miso and burnt butter came through, though the combination was so delicious that we didn’t feel the need to ask about the missing truffle note.
The Onigiri Rice was simple yet satisfying, and the desserts were beautifully presented with a perfect balance of flavors to cap off the meal.
A special thanks to Curtis, whose attentive service at the bar and attention to detail elevated the experience even further. We’re already looking forward to...
Read more1603 high tea experience did not really live up to my expectations. For $89 per person while it is on par with usual high tea prices, the food is a bit of a hit and miss.
We started off with some sparkling wine which was nice, there was a huge selection of savoury stuff such as sashimi, chicken karaage, rice balls, gyoza 🥟 as well as a small and beautiful selection of desserts (the Japanese chocolate tree, matcha cake, chocolate balls and chocolate macaroon as well as a rock shaped sesame-coffee cake).
Overall the highlight was definitely the karaage and the sashimi wasn’t too bad. The egg sando has a yummy smear of truffled egg, but it was too little and the bread itself was dry.
The gyoza was a bit hard and dry and the rice ball was very plain. There is a blob of wasabi cream which we weren’t sure what it is for… and no one explained it to us but it weirdly went well with the matcha cake?! It’s weird.
The sweets were too sweet for my liking however the matcha cake (with wasabi cream) was nice.
Still it was a unique experience and the service was nice, although if you ask me whether I would go out of my way to eat this again, or even if we are nearby, I still won’t...
Read moreIt's the hotel bar of Hotel Indigo and has a sophisticated but relaxed vibe. We tried the Japanese inspired high tea and it was a great experience. Chicken karaage: seasoned well, not as crunchy as it could be but meat was tender. Gyoza: Could be crispier but tasty! Rice balls: Fragrant with Nori mixed through it and yummy when dipped in soy sauce! Egg sandwich: Made with quail eggs and the mayo has a hint of wasabi so it sounds fancier but it tastes like normal egg salad sandwich. Still nice but perhaps more creativity can be implemented here. The desserts are really where this high tea shines! The matcha cake was wonderfully soft and fluffy. Macaron was perfect in texture and flavours. The dark chocolate mousse ball was rich and smooth. The strawberry ice cream mochi had fantastic texture - the mochi exterior was thin and soft and the ice cream was creamy inside.
There was a lot of food and we left very full. The waiter was very attentive too, making this an overall very...
