Botanic Bar — Restaurant in Brisbane City

Such a great uni bar! First time I had been there was in my first semester at QUT uni, with friends from my uni study club. Otherwise, I'd never know there was a bar on campus. (Most of my classes are in Z block and S block, so I don't really go to P block where the bar is.) Practiced and learned how to play pool here. They sometimes hold pool tournaments, so fun! And all the mates are very friendly. I'm sure the time spent and experiences shared here make awesome memories of student life. 😊

In the first few weeks of the semester, there's a band competition every Tuesday with amazing performances! There are also orientation week and various activities in the first few weeks like basketball games and special parties. Uni life at QUT is so awesome! 😎 ( though sometimes I struggle with assignments:(… still love my uni, like this bar!)

This big city has lots of bars, but at GP campus where I mainly take classes, there's only the uni bar, Botanic Bar. Memories of this bar are unique and super precious. There were scenes of me first meeting new friends in the study club and scenes of me hanging out with those friends again. Since I didn't go to bars much before, I was a bit nervous looking at the menu when ordering drinks at first, haha. So many memories!

Some friends graduated or transferred schools, but when we reunited at the Botanic Bar, sitting on the sofa where we used to chat, looking at each other, it felt like we were back in the summer of 18 or 19 again. So lucky to meet at...

Honestly, I haven’t been here since last semester and wow the difference. I used to love coming here to chill, the workers were so amazing and positive and energetic and I haven’t seen them since. They would have genuine conversations with me and remembered my order everytime I went up to grab a drink.

It was my favourite spot after class as the place was absolutely perfect, super clean all the time and genuinely just so fun to be at.

I went in a few times in the past week and I haven’t seen these workers before, but they were definitely not the people i’d like to be served by. They were rude, they barely said a word everytime I ordered and they always rushed the transaction even though it wasn’t busy.

As for the place, the tables were sticky, there were drinks split on the floor and the counter of the bar was wet that it got my sleeves damp and dirty.

There were glasses everywhere and chairs pulled out that you had to put them away for them to avoid tripping.

I’m honestly very disappointed as it’s really become just such a downer of a place that I don’t even want to go...

The BotBar has a great atmosphere and friendly bartenders who are always up for a chat. Pool tables have been upgraded and are great to play on for a reasonable price - free table tennis and board games are a hit too. There are lots of events held throughout the semesters and the live music performances on Thursday/Friday afternoons are worth coming in for. Venue is great, staff are amazing, and drinks are cheap. It’s a great place to socialize throughout the week. Unfortunately, there aren’t any food options other than chip packets.
